Foundation for oily skin

Had some great hair advice here so looking for foundation tips now!

Oily t zone so I can get shiny but oil free foundations can be a bit too dry - I find they drag across my skin and set before I’ve had a chance to blend them. I’m using Double Wear which is the best I’ve tried but far from perfect - it settles in the pores around my nose quite noticeably and wears off as the day goes on.

So what do any fellow shiny-facers recommend?

Arrrgh, no, hope it isn’t like that for me!!! Will report back...

Ok, so reporting back...the No 7 Beautifully Matte seems to be completely different on my sin to yours, @Beautifullymixed. No dryness at all. I find it better than DW in that it doesn't sit in my pores at all, which is great. However, I do tend to get pretty shiny after a few hours, more so than with the DW. Which is weird because DW isn't specifically for oily/shiny skin but the No 7 is. I still use the same powder on top that I was using with the DW.

On balance, I think I prefer it to the DW because at least I can blot the shinyness away but I couldn't do anything about the DW showing up every pore.

Is there a foundation that does both - i.e. stays matt and doesn't sit in pores?

I've recently switched to Vichy Dermablend foundation after having used Double Wear, Mac's Studio Fix Fluid and Lancome Front Idole Ultra. I wanted a change and the others weren't working as well with my oily skin at the moment and I couldn't be happier with Dermablend. You only need to use a tiny amount and buff it in really well with a brush.

Great, thanks Sammy - another one to try.

Fanny I'm glad the beautifully matte foundation looked better on you than me.
I always carry blotting sheets, and my damp beauty sponge with me to mop up oil, and blend any smears/cakey areas away. I also carry powder for the shiny bits.

Regarding staying matte, and foundation sitting in pores - no idea! I find that matte foundations sit in my pores, but luminous foundations need blotting more.
However, I would rather a skin like, hydrated finish to my foundation, then a flat matte, dull finish that makes me look old and crepey.

I have recently tried the CYO lifelong lasting foundation, available from Boots.
It's awesome!
Such a natural, skin like finish that can be built up to a medium coverage. It covers redness, and blemishes but doesn't look heavy at all.
The best thing is that it's hydrating enough to not sit in pores or dry the skin out, but it doesn't leave me oily either.
Another bargain at £7, and between this foundation, the no7 hydraluminous and maybelline fit me dewy foundation, I am very happy to stick with these.
All are affordable too.

I'm oily skinned and I use Jane Iredale powder foundation. It took me years to realise that all liquid foundation seems to oxidize on me. Clinique CC Cream stayed true but was always a bit grey toned.

Fannydango · 27/04/2019 22:42

I’ve never heard of CYO or Jane Iredale so will have a look - thanks.

The more I use the No 7, the less time it seems to stay put on my face. This seems to happen a lot to me with foundation - I think I’ve found something that works and then after a few days use, it stops working!

YSL Touche Eclat foundation works for me, although it does wear off halfway through the day. A primer would probably help and/or powder over the top. It's fairly lightweight but I tried Double Wear and had the same problems as you OP. I use one of those egg sponge blenders to apply as I get way more even coverage.
Do you use a moisturiser? I found switching to a lighter one helped too.

nbee84 · 27/04/2019 22:53

Have you tried using a primer with your dw? They do a mattifier and a smoother - I've tried both and they definitely help with the foundation.

Lollypop701 · 27/04/2019 22:57

Revlon colourstay, and I’ve tried loads. Also powder before primer, after primer then foundation then powder again works too

Fannydango · 28/04/2019 21:24

I’ve tried a few primers including EL ones and none really seem to work (although open to suggestions!).

Also tried YSL touché eclat foundation - didn’t get on with that either (although I can’t remember why now!)

I use LRP factor 50 gel cream. It’s quite matte so I don’t think that causes the oily problem.

Argh, can’t win!

Lollypop - doesn’t layering your powder like that cause it to clump in some way?
