Another foundation thread (I know, I know) - there’s too many opportunities to make (another) the wrong purchase...

The brief:
51 years old;
Very sensitive skin around the T bar area;

Looking for:
Tinted moisturiser for everyday use with decent coverage.
I’d be more than happy to pay a bit extra if it did the job.

Not looking for:
Overly made-up face.

Outcome:
Not using 8/9 cotton wool pads to remove current product (IT), which is great for evening; not so for daytime.

I KNOW IT’S TALL ORDER!

I am the same age as you and also have the sensitive T bar. I use Perricone md “no makeup” foundation serum - the serum not the foundation. It gives great coverage without looking like you have foundation on. I have also used the perricone tinted moisturiser and I love that too but obviously gives much less coverage. I have just ordered the instant blur - looking forward to trying it.

They do a proper foundation but have never tried it, a few reviews have said it isn’t great on more ‘“mature” skin.

I like Laura Gellar's Balance and Brighten it's a powder but goes creamy on you face, it suits my sensitive skin and you can choose to have just a quick swish over for a not made up look or you can build it up to look more foundationy, but the brush that comes with it is crap and I find a kabuki brush better to apply it.

Thank you for your replies! I shall take a peek at those. I wondered about just using a concealer on those ‘tricky’ areas?
I’m not bad at applying makeup but, along with my age comes a deterioration in eye sight and that concerns me. Unless my contact lens are in, it’s a case of glasses on, glasses off, glasses part on to apply eyeliner, glasses off to get to the bit where you can’t have them,; repeat process for all other areas; glasses back on to see the handiwork, which turns out to be not so handy after all 😩.

I have the same problem with glasses and doing makeup 😫. It is why I now rarely wear any makeup other than tinted moisturiser and a swish of mascara unless I am going out out and then I wear contacts so problem solved 😀

I really rate IT cosmetics CC cream.

pinkground202 · 14/04/2019 18:29

I have sensitive skin too, so I'm very careful what I put on my face.

I adore the Chanel Les Beiges tinted moisturiser, I just bought my second one and I rarely re-buy products. It makes me look healthy and well rested which is quite an achievement! Highly recommend it

Bare Minerals.

I dont like the feel of foundation and recently started using nars tinted moisturiser (debenhams think 30ish) which also has spf, absolutely love it. Gives light coverage to even out skintone

saythatagain · 15/04/2019 21:40

Today I didn’t bother with foundation! I popped on some concealer in those pesky areas then some bronzing-type stuff, which quite hilarious given I’m not in the slightest bit tanned.
I shall go down the tint route I think.
Had my usual poke in the eye with my eye liner pencil as I was in concurrent combat with m’glasses....

NARS tinted moisturiser is great. I’m really impressed with the No7 “hydraluminous” moisturising foundation too.

I used to like Clinique Moisture Surge tinted Moisturiser but they've discontinued it - however I'm told a replacement new formulation is due next month.
I bought the Clinique Even Better Refresh foundation in desperation & so far I'm impressed! It's very lightweight but covers uneven areas, and also - bonus - goes light enough for me (think warmed-up corpse colouring)..

Saythat again - if you do want to try Laura Geller - you can order from QVC and if it is not right you can return it. If you try any foundation from there it will be refunded. Which is good news of course!

Deathraystare · 17/04/2019 15:24

Oops! I meant if you don't like it or if it is not right for your skin obvs!!

clandestinenetwork · 17/04/2019 16:29

Laura Mercier tinted moisturiser.

EraOfTheGrey · 17/04/2019 17:13

Another vote for Nars tinted moisturiser, lovely texture and application is really easy, blends well.

Alsohuman · 17/04/2019 18:56

Got matched for Clinique Even Better today and was given a free sample. I like it a lot. Sali Hughes recommends it too.

Jauralane · 17/04/2019 19:08
