Want to learn how to do my make up better

I'm really noticing that my current make up style just isn't working for me anymore and I really don't know how to tackle this.

I saw a photo of the lovely make up writer Sali Hughes yesterday who's about the same age as me and thought that I want to be able to do my make up like that.. but I have no idea where to start.

Are there places you can go which teach you how to do this? Or just you tube? Tips really welcome. I just need to refresh my look.

Hope you don’t mind me following, I have a 6 month old and feeling particularly mummsy at the mo, I really want my eyebrows doing for a start, but also need a new make up look.

I went a d had a lesson with a professional. Made a huge confidence difference. And now you tube...

Look up Hunters and Heels on YouTube. She's a professional makeup artist who does some great tutorials that are quick, simple and gorgeous.

Briony Blake on you tube is great

That's great, good to have some tips!

I don't understand the obsession with eyebrows at the moment but saw a photo yesterday and it made the woman look great so thought maybe I should give it a go.

You can book in with the department stores - just see what appointments they have available and they can do make up trials or lessons. Gives you a bit of an idea or pay for a professional lesson.

YouTube is easier to follow if you’re slightly more confident and have the makeup available (no point buying loads if it’s not your style)

Thanks. That's a good tip 're make up counters. Do you just have to go with one brand that way though?

Yes they do which is why it’s only a starting point, paying £25 for a professional not tied to a brand might be better if you can. Although I used the Estée Lauder one ahead of my wedding and she was great and recommended other products too. She perhaps shouldn’t have but....

How are you currently doing your makeup?

Krimpy · 13/04/2019 22:37

On her Instagram posts Sali Hughes usually lists the products she uses. Base is the most important element imo so maybe look into a glowy primer and a new foundation. And then blending is key.

The assistants at Bobbi Brown are often really helpful. You can book a makeover, or I have in the past just walked up and asked them to do an eyes demo on me which they did with no booking and for free. (I did then buy a product so I wasn't taking the mickey!) I bet if you told them you were looking to change your routine they would be really helpful.
I also really rate Hannah Martin on youtube / instagram. Lovely, glowy, wearable makeup that is real-life compatible.

Thank you. That's helpful all. So hard to know where to start!
