I've tried YouTube and I'm still unable to put eye shadow on nicely.

Can anyone recommend me a product and explain how I should apply it?

what kind of brush are you using? i find it much easier to apply eyeshadow with a brush like this rather than the tiny ones included in the pallets, which can sometimes make the eyeshadow look 'cakey'.

I hear you, I am creative and arty and good at makeup generally but shite at applying eyeshadow - watching with interest Grin

You need the right brush and you need to blend, blend, and blend some more.

Hold the brush further towards the end rather than near the bristles so the finish isn’t too harsh.

What kind of look are you going for?

ReginaGeorgeous · 10/04/2019 19:43

What eyeshadows have you been using? Some brands are more pigmented and blend better than others.

Agree with PP about the right brushes and blending. Personally I like Ecotools and Real Techniques brushes.

You may just need a lot of practice. After decades of trying myself I finally decided to practice for 2-3 hours a day until I'd mastered it. It took me a year (probably only 4 to 5 days practice a week though - had some days of eyeshadow hell!).

Do you have quite hooded eyelids? The are the nemesis of good eye make up application.

Housewife2010 · 11/04/2019 09:12

The quickest easiest way is to use a good eyeshadow stick ( By Terry, Laura Mercier, Bobbi Brown, Beauty Pie, Kiko, Rosie for Autograph, Eyeko) and to colour in your lid and then blend it away in your crease with a brush or finger. The best quality ones last well and don't crease, but if they do, dust a little pressed powder eyeshadow over the top.

I'm the same. I just do one colour as I have no idea how to blend more than one. Can't do eyeliner on my top line either. If anyone can recommend a brush for smudging eyeliner I'd appreciate it.

WifOfBif · 11/04/2019 09:24

The Real Techniques eye smudge and diffuser set is good Nico.

I like all of RT brushes, they’re really good for the price.
