I need eyebrow advice

Sitting on train surrounded by women with perfectly shaped eyebrows and feeling conscious of my own less polished mops.

A couple of years ago I took the plunge and had my eyebrows shaped for the first time, using waxing. They were lovely. But the clinic that did it then stopped doing anything other than laser. I tried another clinic, but wasn't so happy with the results or the experience and haven't been back. Any tips on how to find a 'good' clinician when you're a bit naive and nervous of the whole beauty clinic scene? Also wondering if I should just go back to the original and have the laser treatment. Any thoughts on that?

  1. Try threading. I don't know why or how, but the people who do this are nothing short of miracle workers.
  1. Ask on your local Facebook page for recommendations.

Another vote for threading. But get a recommendation, not all threaders are equal!

I get mine done at the Shavata area in John Lewis. Expensive but excellent.

Thanks. Too shy/proud to ask for recommendations publicly but will look at threading. There's a clinic near me that does "Eyebrow Threading" for £8 (it's a leafy London suburb). It has good reviews on Google, but does that sound too cheap to be trustworthy? Should I be looking for somewhere that says "Eyebrow Shaping" instead? I imagine there's a difference in skill needed for initial styling compared to just ongoing maintenance.

£8 is fine. If they're good they're good. One place here charges £7, another charges £12. They're both fine (also leafy London suburb). You don't need a "clinic", a beauticians will do.

They will shape your eyebrows when they're threading them.

If you don't want to ask yourself, have a look through your local FB page because I can promise you someone else will have asked!

(And the same person would do shaping as well as maintenance.)

I don't understand threading. Why do people need it? Surely there are only a few hairs to pluck out if you aren't going for a thin brow.

NotQuiteSlimJim · 09/04/2019 17:37

@Ofthread my eyebrows are thick and bushy (no need for slugbrow here) but when I have them threaded a lot of stray hairs are still plucked including the very short fuzz type ones. I have my brows threaded every 4/5 weeks. £ 8 leafy London suburb too Wink

There’s ladies that do threading in the local Superdrug and shopping centre near me - always been fine. They cost about £6.

Candleglow, yes I've seen the Superdrug thing, but it's way too public for me. I find it amazing that people are happy to have personal treatments in a shop window. Definitely not my cup of tea!
