Eyeshadow gift for my mum 65 yrs

My mum would like eyeshadow for her birthday and I need to order online. She said she would like a variety of normal colours. She usually wears quite natural makeup. I only have £30 to spend, can be a few shadows or a palette. She is not particularly brand aware, but I would like it to look a nice gift even with my £30 budget. Any suggestions please ?

She loved all the Mary quant stuff back in the day, but I can't see if they sell it in the UK now ?

I want to try these as

You could add in some brushes as well

Metallic colours might be a bit much for crepey eyelids. But the again, if she likes metallics, she should wear them.

When you say normal colours I'd think of neutrals like the Naked palettes. What colours does she usually use?

I was going to suggest Bobbi Brown (very good for mature skin and colouring), but they haven’t got any suitable palettes at the moment.

It’s over budget but maybe Charlotte Tilbury? You could keep an eye out for deals or price matches (depending on when you need to buy), something like this, but obviously it depends on her colouring as to what would suit her best.

Otherwise Urban Decay is very good. They used to do a naked basics palette which was a bit smaller and not quite so expensive as the full size ones.

Another option would be M&S. Stila is very good and this is only just over budget, plus you get a good range of colours:

The Huda Beauty obsessions palettes are nice

A mine Urban Decay Naked palette. Lovely and natural, and matte nt shiny.

3catsandcounting · 07/04/2019 15:23

I'm 56 and have the Naked and Naked2 palettes. Love them both, but the 2 is more metallic. Great pigmentation and they last for ages.

Nanasueathome · 07/04/2019 15:25

Have a look at Bare Minerals on qvc

snoringdoggo · 07/04/2019 21:45

Oh my gosh so many good ideas. Thank you all.

My mum hasn't worn eyeshadow for years and "wants to get back into it."
I always remember her 80's bright blue eye shadow & blue mascara GrinBut she said she wanted neutral. I don't know on Matt v metallic. I would say she looks ok for her age, she has quite a quirky dress sense.

I'm such a sucker for packaging, love the Charlotte Tilbury one, but it's very limited colours for the cost, so will check all the suggestions for the best option.

Beauty Pie have some nice palettes.

Look Fabulous Forever specialises in make up for older faces: at 55, mine's one of them, and their eyeshadows are flattering and easy to apply.
Good make up tips on their website.
