First bra for 12 year old?

Going bra shopping tomorrow with 12 year old. She currently wears crop tops and has a very modest chest. Any tips for where to go or specific brands. I had assumed we'd go to M&S but most of their Angel range is padded and therefore not what we're looking for.

Tips gratefully received.

John lewis will measure her

I’d say it’s more t-shirt bra style breather than padded. You don’t just want thin cotton bras. Her nipples will show through. You wouldn’t wear that. Go to M&S and see what she likes. They’re not all push up, they’re more just lined.

Debenhams.

They do some nice not frilly bras. Nice moulded ones too. The nude ones are fab for under school shirts

Also agree with pp about the padding. It's not padding. Breasts are often uneven when developing and nipples can be sore.

Moulded bras allow for that and give a less embarrassing sillohette through clothing.

Victoria secrets
Have a great range of proper no wired bras and they measure well unlike m&s.

My 12-year-old prefers US Pro sports bras and crop tops. We went on a day out to try a few and I think we picked most of what she has from Sports Direct. Not where I was expecting, but she's happy with them.

She says the fabric is softer and more comfortable than the other bras she tried and that the sports bras work really well for PE and activities. Their crop tops are a thicker material and look more like bras so works well when not needing that support or wanting that structure but wanting something to cover nipples and such. She also likes the colours better.

Don't go for just the thin cotton style as PP said, t-shirt bra would be ideal not just the cotton/lace style. Debenhams I swear by! My mum took me there for my first fitting aged 11 and have used them religiously ever since, will be taking DD when she reaches that age too.
Asda bras are good on a budget too.

My DD changed sizes quite a bit over a few months. It's not difficult to measure a bra size at home. I bought a load of inexpensive bras from Primark which she grew out of.
I wouldn't spend too much money on these first bras as she might not get much wear out of them.
But also agree that both M&S and Debenhams, possibly John Lewis also good. T-shirt style less visible under tops & school blouses if she's feeling a bit self conscious.

Don't let M&S fit her though.

Thanks everyone - especially those who explained why they should be padded.
Haven't got a local John Lewis but can go to Debenhams, which I like too.

I want to get this right as I had to wait until well past needing a bra and then 'inherited' a bag of my sister's bras, and we weren't the same shape at all.

John Lewis I’ve found best. And we always went for moulded ones for dd as they were the most comfortable.
