Any colourists? My hair is green...

Firstly I'd like to point out that I made my hair green INTENTIONALLY.
I've always had bright coloured hair.

I had very short hair that was blue and this is the result of it being grown out.

I know the easiest thing to do would be to slap a dark brown over it but I don't want to go darker.

Ideally I would like to strip the green out. Have a light brown with some highlights.

I have been colouring my hair at home since 15 and dispute what it looks like right now (I've not touched it in about a year)
I am alright at colouring.

Any advice on how to go about sorting this?

And please don't say go to a salon. I don't have the cash. At all. So PLEASE don't suggest it as its not an option. Neither is going to a hair college

Photos would help.

There's quite a lot of red underneath too

It doesn’t look too bad to me!

Would a swimmers shampoo help?

Are you looking for recommendations for professional products to use at home, or super cheap remedies to get it back on track? If the latter, cover the green bits with tomato ketchup, it works a treat. The red counters/ fills the green and then you can put whatever colour you want on top without the green coming through.

BlueHairDoCare · 06/04/2019 13:25

Tom either.

I want the green gone first before I decide what to do...

You need to pre pig the green with a red. You can do this by putting a red semi permanent colour on the green and drying it in to the hair with a hair dryer. Do not rinse off literally put on and dry in.

Then you can put a light brown permanent colour on and then rinse off and dry as normal.

Green is the worst to get rid of. Some head and shoulders and neutralise what's left with a touch of pink toner. You'll have slightly pinkish hair though.

Hollylolly28 · 06/04/2019 13:31

I had overtoned my hair the other day, try lemon juice and conditioner it took a good bit of the colour out of mine

BlueHairDoCare · 06/04/2019 15:22

Do you think a COLOURB4 would help?

Might be too strong I think they work best soon after you've dyed, look on YouTube about the lemon

Hwory · 06/04/2019 17:06

That mint green tint is staining on your hair rather than hair dye pigment that can be removed. When I tried to get it out I used all the hacks but nothing worked. Your only real options would be to bleach it out (what I did) or use a red filler then dye over with a darker colour.

BlueHairDoCare · 07/04/2019 09:45

After bleaching 😂😂😂

Bleach wont do a lot unless you do it into an inch of your hairs life. It will split badly before you're able to get it out.

As above..

You need to pre pig the green with a red. You can do this by putting a red semi permanent colour on the green and drying it in to the hair with a hair dryer. Do not rinse off literally put on and dry in. This will counteract the green.

Then you can put a light brown permanent colour on and then rinse off and dry as normal.

You'll need to use the same base number though so if your semi permanent red is a 5 like this one, you'll need a 5 base permanent.

Then a brown number 5 permanent colour.

I don't mind bleaching it to death

After I lose a few stone I'm planning on shaving it off anyway.

I'm going to trim the ends off And put a toner on after this round of bleaching.
