How do you style your long hair

I have long dark hair. It’s naturally straight(ish) I have these annoying little waves near the roots that appeared after I had DS!
I don’t have much time most days (17 month old) but would love to know how I can quickly style my hair so it doesn’t look too boring.... either down with nice soft waves or curls or some kind of nice ponytail or something. I have no go to styles!

I have similar hair check out the "overnight sock bun"
I do it overnight then in the morning some hairspray/texture spray it just gives it a bit of a flicky blow dry look

Or for quick curls pop in a very high pony in a loose bobble to avoid kinks and curly the hair in the pony spray and take out the bobble.

Then you can pin the curls and leave overnight or just do it Am. YouTube has loads of suggestions

Following. With 3 under 6 I never have time to do my hair beyond making it clean and dry.

Lottieleo- when you do the overnight thing, does the front of your hair not go odd? Maybe I move around in my sleep too much, but I find I get weird kinks in my hair at the front.
(If Lottie and Leo are your children's names, they're gorgeous! Smile)

I usually just wash and go so it looks a bit scruffy but if I just pin the fringe back in a mini quiff it does look different and easy to do.

PhilODox · 31/03/2019 10:23

I have been thinking of cutting a fringe in, but how do you decide if it suits you? (Have had long hair all my life, apart from five or so years when the children were v small, but I've never had a fringe.) I just think it could make my hair more interesting perhaps?

Mines always in a plait these days

bridgetosomewhere · 31/03/2019 12:35

I pin the sides back just the very front bits and that looks nice. So not on top of my head but around the side and tie at back

Or a do a a high pony with escaped bits. Or a high half bun pulled out to look like a bow.

Side plait is nice but it doesn't stay in too well.

Trying the sock bun tonight!

I French braid mine and instead of putting bobbles on the ends of the plaites I secure with a curler on the end. Spray with some hair spray /bit of mousse /whatever sort of fixing agent you prefer.

Take out in the morning, ruffle a bit. Soft waves without weird straight ends.

Nb, it can take a bit of figuring out what size curler you need but takes five minutes and looks quite polished I think

I like scruffy buns/updos. Have you seen those corkscrew pins that are supposed to be the equivalent of 10 bobby pins - they are fab. Put in ponytail, loosen it so its not too tight, then use 2 of those to create the messy bun. Can add a bit of variation by using a hairband, scarf, stick some jewellery or a pretty clip in.
