Bra disappointment!

After getting great advice here. I had been singing the praises of my new bra.
32f - very comfortable (so l had thought)
Ticked all the boxes for a good fit.
Unfortunately yesterday it became absolute agony to wear. It’s the same problem as always... the side/tip of the underwire / the bit under my armpit really hurts. Leaving a nasty red ( painful) indentation.
It must be the style l have chosen each time maybe?
Does anyone know what causes this particular problem/ it must be my shape l suppose...
🤷‍♀️ Thank you.

What style of bra is it? I find this with balcony/balconette bras

Sillybilly1234 · 31/03/2019 07:33

Are you definitely buying the correct sized bra? If you have a proper fitting you will probably get a shock. That might help if all of your bras are doing the same thing.

Willowtreecottage · 31/03/2019 08:31

silly thanks!
I measured in the new way.
Under ( it’s 32 exactly)
And 39 at a 90 degree angle!
This gives a 32F - l must have chunky armpits. Grin
I scooped and leant forward to pop it all in!
It’s a soft padded underwire. That’s the shape ‘ l need’ after 5 yrs of breastfeeding! Wink
But... that finished 7 years ago. So they are totally settled if you see what l mean?

What brand and style is it? Some have wider underwires, and some narrower but higher - you might get along better with a different shape.

DoraNora · 31/03/2019 09:43

Go to bravissimo! Get fitted properly ...

You'll find you are different sizes in different brands as well as different shapes being better suited. Every time I buy a bra I haven't been fitted for in bravissimo (or Rigby and Peller), even if the salesperson has 'measured' me it always always ends up uncomfortable and gets relegated to the bottom of the drawer.

My MIL also credits me with changing her life after taking her to bravissimo. She said 'I can't believe I put up with this for 63 years'.

isabellerossignol · 31/03/2019 09:46

Is it by any chance a Panache or a Fantasie bra? I can't wear either of those brands because the wires come up too far under the arms. There is nothing wrong with the bras or the sizing, they just don't suit the shape of my body.

IWannaSeeHowItEnds · 31/03/2019 09:48

I'm on non wired bras now. Am 36dd. Still not perfect - I hate the sensation of the band around my ribcage, vbut better than underwire. Got mine in m&s. Wouldn't trust them for measuring but the bras themselves are fine.

Lweji · 31/03/2019 10:36

It might not work, but try to bend the underarm tip slightly outwards.

On further fittings make sure you fit the bra, then move around, make your usual movements with the bra, bend over, etc, then see if it stays in place comfortably.

Cryalot2 · 31/03/2019 11:54

As someone who has a small back and large cup size, I go bravissimo all the time .
Get properly fitted there.

Lweji · 31/03/2019 13:29

I see from your other thread that you ordered one bra in one size and went with it.

Not really a good idea.

Definitely try different styles and brands for the best fit. Preferably in store, and if it's a first time fitting in a non-M&S sizing. Learn how to assess a good fit, not just measure. Particularly because the fit depends on boob shape as well.
Also remember that along the month your boobs may require different sizes. Mine tend to fit a 28FF better just before my period and drop to 28F after it.

Willowtreecottage · 31/03/2019 14:16

Thank you for all the help... it’s a Freya bra!
I should have gone to the store, but had read something/somewhere that it would be a good brand for my type of shape.
Taken on board the help and suggestions and will get measured by someone l think! Wink

I am so with you on this recently sold 12 bras on ebay that I have bought and cannot wear. All tried on fitted well, but as soon as you wear for any length of time they hurt under the armpits. Measured at Bravissimo, bought two and was so happy yet one of them was the worst offender. I now have one from bravissimo and a couple from Matalan, but all lacy, I need a decent t shirt bra, but cannot afford to keep on buying more.

Willowtreecottage · 01/04/2019 07:34

Exactly!
I’ve had this problem for goodness knows how long...
I’ve just ordered the sister size 34e / as l’m unable to get anywhere this week!
My last comfortable bra is in its last hooks Grin

I'm not sure what to do, its OK ordering online, but until you where them for several hours you don't know. I can only think that I need narrow wires. I'll try link you the matalan one if you want to try it. Not very glamorous but good as a basic.

Kaz2200 · 01/04/2019 09:12

www.matalan.co.uk/product/detail/s2659471_c101/dd-stretch-lace-full-cup-bra-black fairly sure its this one.

Willowtreecottage · 01/04/2019 10:25

Oh thanks kaz - looks good.
It just gets so boring after a while doesn’t it! 😆

Sure does, I wear a lot of soft pull on bras at hone, but soo unflattering, if anyone has any recomendations for nice non wired ones I might try again.
