Dry hair- HELP!!!

Samind · 27/03/2019 22:10

Thank you in advance for replies

4months post partum and my once lovely hair is now resembling something that has been chemically burned (slight exaggeration) but it soooooo dry and nearly impossibe to brush.
I feel like worzel gummage.

It's good bit past shoulder length but so dry and brittle now and become awful and knotted at times. It feels horrible too. Even as soon as I've shampooed it. I've never had hair like it!

Any experiences or advice before I run crying to the hairdresser to cut it up? And crying all the way home becauseiwantedlonghairagain

Extrodinary oil by L’Oréal
Tiny amount gives u silky swishy hair
I have my swingy bob back
Only use a tiny amount ontoweldriedhair and blow dry

What texture is your hair? Curly, straight, wavy?

The hormones can do it after having a baby. Mine went to shit for a while. You may need to change your products, a more gentle shampoo and deep conditioner. Are you washing it more than usual? Make sure you rinse thoroughly after washing so no product is left. How do you dry it? Leave it to dry naturally as much as physically possible and try to only brush it when wet.

My hair's naturally wavy. I always have left it to dry naturally unless I've been in a hurry and going out for evening etc now when I'm leaving it to dry naturally it's still dry as anything...

I wash it 2/3 times a week since my hairdresser told me ages ago to stop washing it everyday as it didn't need it. Don't know why it's so bad

Thank you for recommendation. 😌

I have never really had dry hair. But over the last 6 months I've had my hair bleached 3 times. Since having it done I have used a hair treatment once a week on it. It's an Alberto Balsam coconut one. It's not expensive and it works really well. I wash my hair, then wrap it in a towel for a few minutes, then apply plenty of the treatment all over. Leave it on for half an hour, then rinse it off. I also used a few drops of hair oil and a heat defence spray. I hope this helps and you don't need to get it cut🤞.
You can get the treatment from the supermarket or savers.

I've had good results on my dry hair from leaving hair oil on overnight then washing it out in the morning and using a 2 min hair mask while in the shower. I also only wash it every 2/3 days, use SLS free products, and let it dry naturally without wrapping it in a towel.

I swear by olaplex treatment it has saved my hair but you need to go to the hairdressers for it x

Eesha · 27/03/2019 23:04

@Samind I went to a celeb hairdresser who recommended Olaplex 2, leave it in overnight and apparently hair is silly soft. It's pricey but he said try Amazon. I just tend to use Moroccan Oil plus the Loreal blue bottles and my hair looks ok

Coco and eve hair treatment is amazing, left my hair silky soft. It’s expensive (I got the travel size in my Birchbox one month). I’m going to add it to my Christmas list.

TeddyIsaHe · 27/03/2019 23:07

Cantu cream shampoo and conditioner - no sls or silicones. It’s worked wonders for my straw hair. You can get it in larger Boots, it smells absolutely incredible too!

Second (third?) Olaplex2. It’s amazing.

Teanocoffeethanks · 27/03/2019 23:12

Id start to follow curly Girls method where you start using kinder products on hair eg Cantu. Also. Deep condition every week with Food mask or similar. Maybe even a protein treatment with rice water or egg white. Start taking a multi vitamin too.
