Anyone who’s had Botox

Lowandbetold1 · 24/03/2019 15:24

I have finally decided to get something done about my very deep frown lines. I have tried everything going and consistently but they are more severe than ever. I wish something else worked as I am freaking out about getting Botox but I have zero confidence now with these lines. I’m early 30’s and they are very deep and have truely ruined my face.
At the same time I am so nervous, no-one admits to getting it done on RL and I can’t tell my dh as he’d really not like this. At the same time it’s my face and it honestly looks distorted, I look completely different to a few years ago and it’s not that it’s me but older it’s like the frown lines have changed the shape of my eyes and my eyebrows. I get told all the time that I look angry or exhausted. I am going to a reputable dentist and I have read the risks. I just want to know what to expect, will it feel really weird, v heavy? Will the sensation last all through the months. I’m a little worried about feeling ill after and not being able to tell anyone. I only want to get it done in one area, can anyone else advise when they saw an improvement and was it v obvious? Thanks in advance.

You'll probably need to have some filler to actually fill the deep lines, that should last 12 months & Botox in your frown & forehead to lift your brows slightly & stop the droop & lines getting worse. It doesn't hurt, you feel a slight pop when then needle goes in, slight sting when the solution goes in, no pain after, no weird sensations. You'll love it.

My doctor said alcohol was fine just don’t get steaming drunk and fall over.

I had a similar thing as a previous poster last time when my upper eyelids under my eyebrows looked more creased. I’m wondering if I compensated for not being able to frown by scrunching up my eyes. This area is harder to treat so definitely don’t want more wrinkles here

I held off for 10 months but have just had some more but an even lighter dose so we’ll see. If it happens again I may just have a bit of filler in the 11s instead. I don’t want to create more wrinkles!

I've just recently had it for the first time, and I couldn't be happier. I look fresher, I feel miles more confident, and my partner hasn't noticed at all Grin I didn't have a top up as I wanted to still be able to move my face, and I still have all my expressions, just none of the wrinkles! I'll defo be doing it again in about 6 months!

I've had it 10+ times. Only once had lumpy red bit. Yes a bit red for few mins after but soon settles. I never bother with concealer, go to shops etc. No one seems to have stared or noticed. Not felt ill or anything
Face a bit achey in face after 5 points done with filler but again, I went out etc and no one noticed anything odd

Botox for the last few years (40’s) and it’s been great, my ‘resting bitch face’ is no more and people think I’m less stressed. So they respond differently. Agree only go via recommendations, looks at photos of their work. Less is more, you can always have a bit more the next time if it’s not worked as much as you’d like but that way you avoid frozen face syndrome! And the person I use at the 2 week check would rather do less and top up at the 2 week check (same price) than you looking unnatural. Warning it can be addictive. I had subtle fillers and at the last appointment with Botox and lots of people commented on how fresh I look 🙈.

I’ve been having my 11 lines done every 4 months for the past 2 years now and I LOVE it. I had such deep lines it really aged me. Just the 11’s looks completely natural.

I did have my forehead done aswell the 2nd time I had it but wasn’t keen on how it looked, it made my eyebrows go a bit Spock like!

Honestly, I waited too long to start but no show Botox for the elevens made a difference, psychologically. Because I couldn't frown, I didn't so reactions to me were muted, and I was happier. I just didn't display that I was irritated so nakedly in my facial expression. I'm old enough now (60s) to feel that I held the clock back a decade and have been quite relaxed since then, and have stopped. It was very helpful during a period when I felt I had lost my way.

Thanks so much for the messages, really informative and massively encouraging. Helps a lot as can’t talk about it in real life. Think I can get defensive as I totally agree with aging gracefully and embracing lines. I just don’t feel frown lines are in the same category.
I really relate to what a pp said about smiling but still looking miserable. I remember looking at holiday pictures with my dh and my kids, it was a wonderful holiday and it was one of the happiest times of my life! But my kids and dh were laughing about how grumpy I looked, how I must have had a bad day there... It doesn’t matter how much I smile I look constantly pissed off. I hate that. My dh equates Botox to really overdone people and fakeness but I recognize that some people have had it done and look so much better for it. Kate Middleton is a great example of subtle Botox.

Glad to hear it doesn’t feel very weird and heavy .

How much does it tend to cost for 11s? I want to check I can afford to keep it up
If I start!
And I have sensitive skin probs to rosacea- does this matter at all? I don’t want the Botox to cause skin problems.

BartonHollow · 24/03/2019 20:17

I've been quoted £170 by the most convenient option for me

zippyswife · 24/03/2019 20:20

Where is that Barton?

CreepyPasta · 24/03/2019 20:30

£135 for mine. Merseyside

ChampooPapi · 24/03/2019 20:42

@YetAnotherThing that has since been proven to be completely untrue.

It's actually the opposite as the more you have it the less you need it as you naturally stop frowning or 'working' your face as the muscles have a memory.

It's now being used for neck problems, injections straight into the muscle for this very reason as well as relaxing the muscle
