Any exfoliator recommendations please?

Something fairly gentle but effective. My skin is dry in patches but I think it just needs a good old exfoliation. Am using an Aveda exfoliant at the moment which doesn't have any particles and, quite frankly, seems pretty ineffective.

Not too expensive though.

TIA

I've just started using a Boots Time Delay product which I really like. It's called Clarifying Face Cleanser (wash off type) and contains particles.

I've tried many in my time (though my skin is oily it flakes as well) right the way from mega-gentle to v harsh ones inc flake-dissolving fruit acids, sugar, salt, L'Oreal Microbrasion stuff etc

Best find so far is the Liz Earle stuff with the muslin cloth (though I think it's the muslin rather than the cleanser that does the trick) - a bit of gentle exfoliation twice a day is much better than sandpapering once a week.

Clinique 7 day scrub is the best one I have used.

Thanks everyone for the recommendations ... I'll have a look at these ... must look at the Liz Earle website.

I use the exfoliating gloves with a moisturising shower gel, or plain water, you can buy them at superdrug etc for about £1.99 and if you need gentle, you just scrub a bit lighter.
Just bung em in the washer between uses as they get a bit smelly if you leave them damp in the shower!

save your dosh and use:

rock salt in olive oil on your body.

MrsBadger · 11/07/2007 21:51

for the record I was talking about face stuff - scrubby gloves all the way for body

I've just had a good scrub down in the bath and am all pink, glowing, and smooooooth as a baby's bum.
I did try the oil and rocksalt thing once but if your shower is over the bath its a recipe for someone slipping and breaking their necks!

I'm talking about face stuff too! Mrs B - I had a look at the Liz Earle website ... do you think the cleanser exfoliates enough cos she does an exfoliator too.

the 'cleanse & polish' works for me

I got it as a present but if I were a cheapskat eI would try doing the Liz Earle technique with a muslin filched from the baby drawer and my normal cleanser before shelling out for the real stuff.

binkleandflip · 13/07/2007 14:13

Oops sorry Well, for face can I recommend origins face scrub - thats really nice. Or alternatively buy a normal facial cleanser and massage it in with a facial pumice - which isnt as torturous as it sounds!!

binkleandflip · 13/07/2007 14:13

And you use far less so your product goes a lot further

Millie1 · 13/07/2007 21:40

Thanks everyone ... I've ordered the Liz Earle cleanse & polish. Hope it comes tomorow!

Mrs Badger - thanks so much for the Liz Earle recommendation. It's fantastic - I've only been using it for 4 days but already my skin feels & looks a hundred times better.
