Best make up for old tired looking skin

I've always been happy with my bare minerals powder for daytime & a heavier cream foundation plus powder blusher at night but my fave is looking old and gathered and I think getting too old for powder based products. I want that fresh dewy look but don't have a massive budget and generally quite rubbish with makeup.
I use basic olay spf moisturiser in the day and various Ordinary creams & serums at night.
Any suggestions?

I also used powder foundation for years - Bare Minerals and Virgin Vie - but since hitting my forties it shows up wrinkles I didn't know I had!

I now use a BB cream (I have the Garnier and the Nivea one - they're both good) for light make up, and just started using Estee Lauder Double Wear for foundation days/nights - I apply a really thin layer with a stippling brush so it goes on really lightly - then I just touch up the areas I need more coverage with a little sponge or brush.

I have quite oily skin though - apparently Double Wear isn't so great for dry skin. If you want something a bit less ££, Bourjois foundations are really good too. A lot of foundations sink into little wrinkles and pores, but Double Wear and Bourjois foundations don't (for me anyway).

The other thing is, I used to absolutely cover my face with translucent powder to set the foundation - now it just makes me look old, so I get a little brush with hardly any powder on, and just add the tiniest amount to my t-zone.

Finally - I switched from powder blush to cream - all the major brands do them, I've found they're all much of a muchness. But it gives you a lovely glow that powder blush just doesn't give.
