Buying from the kids section

If I'm usually a size 8, what size would be best to buy if I'm shopping from the kids department?

I've tried to make sense of the size guides but it's coming out as age 13, so would 12-13 fit? That seems very small but then I think maybe when I was 13 I was probably around a size 8 so it could be correct

Any advice on what size to go for?

My daughter is 12 and in ages 12-13 clothes, she also fits a woman's size 8 or sometimes a 6 as she doesn't have any boobs Grin

Depends on bust/hips tbh. Size is probably about right if you're not very hourglass shaped.

I'm a size 12ish on top and buy Gap boys t-shirts in XXL (which Gap call 13XL) and jumpers in XL (which they call 12-13yrs). I don't know if I'd get into trousers though. Trackies maybe. :)

I'm not all that tiny (5'1 and size 10) but I have done this and I nearly always regret it. Either the item will have a daisy hanging off the zip, or it will say Boden Kids on the back of the trainer, or it has no waist (well, doh!) or I go out and see a ten year old in the same thing............

NOPE.

I’ve bought stuff from Asda kids rage in the past, size 8 = 13 years, I’m only 5ft2 tho

Plural · 20/03/2019 21:23

I have done this but the sleeves and body are often too short

whitehalleve · 20/03/2019 21:34

It depends on your height and arm, leg length!

RainbowInACloud · 20/03/2019 21:36

I'm 5 ft and size 6 and I find age 12 is perfect for me. I especially like the John Lewis dresses and pajamas.

Monst3ra · 20/03/2019 21:49

I'm 5'6 so length it likely to be an issue isn't it. I think I'll leave that idea.

A friend of mine is taller than you and buys clothes from the kids section of Tesco and asda. I don't know why would anyone want to though? I think she just likes to say she can do it tbh!Confused

OldJoseph · 20/03/2019 22:12

I sometimes wear aged 13 clothes (boys or girls), sometimes they are better made than women's clothes. Also cheaper.
I'm short though and a size 6-8.

madeyemoodysmum · 20/03/2019 22:23

I’ve bought lots of age 15/16 in next. Mostly plain things but they are very generous and I have massive Norks too

MissSmiley · 20/03/2019 23:02

I did when I was in my 20s Gap used to do similar things in adult and kids
But most teen stuff doesn't allow for boobs

Milomonster · 21/03/2019 06:38

I’m flat and size 8 and bought the most beautiful cashmere cardigan from Arket kids in the sale for a tenner. One of the best purchases. It’s a tad shorter than I’d like but fits perfectly on the shoulders. I also check out J Crew kids.

ooglyboo · 21/03/2019 07:25

I am 5 4 and size 6. I buy kids clothes from zara, j crew, gap. Only plain stuff (sweaters, cardies, etc) but i got a boys parka from j crew which was much cheaper than an adults would be.
