What body lotion for dry, ageing skin?

Can anyone recommend something that will make a difference? Preferably something quick to absorb. I'm exfoliating in the shower with a scratchy glove and using up any old thing I have left from Xmas but my skin is still tight feeling.

Aveeno is a good start.

Cecilia2016 · 17/03/2019 18:59

Shea butter

Chancewouldbeafinethlng · 17/03/2019 19:01

I’ve neen using oil instead of creams/lotions and it’s made a huge difference. The oil actually sinks in whereas the lotion always has like a layer over my skin.

Champagnebrain · 17/03/2019 19:04

Which oil please chance?

Avenno do an oil creme mix
It’s lovely and sinks in

hugoagogo · 17/03/2019 19:11

I use almond oil, this one just a 10p size blob on each limb, it's made such a difference- my shins used to crack and my arms were very rough and flakey, it takes seconds and is cheap as anything.

Chancewouldbeafinethlng · 17/03/2019 19:32

I’m using this one at the moment.

Fluffycloudland77 · 17/03/2019 20:31

Stop exfoliating every day, it’s living tissue not a piece of wood.

Soontobe60 · 17/03/2019 20:35

I read somewhere that exfoliating ordinary skin is a bad idea because it roughs up the cell edges and makes them look worse.

FloofyDoof · 18/03/2019 07:02

Nutrogena hydro boost body lotion is great straight after a shower, it contains hyaluronic acid and is only about £5 for a 400ml pump bottle. I use that most days and layer a body oil over it if I feel like any bits are extra dry.

funmummy48 · 18/03/2019 07:11

Another vote for Aveeno.

Palominoo · 18/03/2019 07:20

Clarins with aloe.

Flobochin · 18/03/2019 07:30

E45 every day after your shower.

lightningstrikes · 18/03/2019 21:35

Eucerin Intensive Lotion with 10% Urea has sorted my scaly legs. I've also started using Bioderma Atoderm instead of shower gel. My skin has never been so soft.

Destinesia · 18/03/2019 22:06

The Superdrug Vitamin E dry body oil is really good.

smileannie · 19/03/2019 01:10

Use acqueous cream to wash with in the shower, this will moisturise your skin before you use your body lotion. I swear by Palmers Cocoa cream for every day use.

MooMinCow · 19/03/2019 08:28

Cerave moisturising lotion from Boots. Lightweight but sinks in straight away so no residue.

Gwenhwyfar · 19/03/2019 20:24

I use the Palmers for rough skin (meant for elbows and feet) on my whole body. It hasn't been enough for the KP on my legs recently, but it's the best thing I've found and is cheap.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 19/03/2019 20:27

Make sure you take your vitamins and nourish skin from within.
Vitamin C made a huge difference to dry skin. Also cod liver oil.
Avérons is good. Also a glug of coconut oil when in the bath.

Seedlip · 19/03/2019 22:03

Aveeno gets my vote

EnidButton · 20/03/2019 05:32

I love Bioderma shower oil for in the shower and just started using La Roche Posay lipikar lait anti-dryness body milk which I think is the best body lotion since ever tried. Leaves my skin very soft and smooth and sinks in really quickly.

I use blue top Aveeno on my calves as it's the only moisturiser that doesn't sting after shaving. I don't like the smell though so it's just for my lower legs.

Also like the Neutrogena one Floofy uses. Nice fresh smell. And use Eucerin 10% urea cream on my upper thighs and arms when I have kp bumps.

SleepingIsOverrated · 20/03/2019 06:57

Maybe try an oil instead? Squalene by The Ordinary is amazing and can be added to your moisturiser if needed.

FriendOrFaux · 20/03/2019 07:04

I have very dry itchy skin.
I've been using baby oil whilst still wet in the shower, then patting skin dry.
Had really good results so far.

Champagnebrain · 26/03/2019 09:11

Thanks for all the ideas.

I bought some almond oil and some Aveeno.

And have a list for next time
