Any proven at-home methods for tackling milia?

You know those little white bumps on the skin?

I have a small patch on my forehead. Google says to exfoliate, but that hasn’t worked.

Has anyone used anything to successfully get rid of them at home? I was thinking of a skin roller/micro needle roller?

Well I take a fine needle to them and push them out.. 🤷🏽‍♀️

donajimena · 16/03/2019 23:24

I needle them too. Its so satisfying rolling the hard white lump in your fingers.

BoomTish · 16/03/2019 23:33

Does that not leave big marks?

FuckSakeFelicia · 16/03/2019 23:34

Nope. You're literally making the tiniest hole in the skin, they come out quite easily

Grace212 · 16/03/2019 23:34

I've got one of these....a colleague told me it's usually just the start Shock

so I'm also interested but worried I could damage the skin.

BoomTish · 16/03/2019 23:39

Right, shall take a needle to my forehead tomorrow.

Have one by my eye too that’s toward the soft part over the socket so afraid to go near it.
Do they disappear eventually?

I also use a needle though occasionally I can just squeeze them like a spot of they are near the surface. Strangely satisfying when that little ball pops out😂

ExplodingCarrots · 16/03/2019 23:46

Hot flannel pressed on the area for as long as possible ...needle...prick the milia slightly and then gently squeeze. Can take a bit of squeezing if the gunk is still hard 😄. My mum gets them so have had loads of practice . Have also worked in a spa as a therapist and had clients beg me to get rid of theirs but obviously wasn't allowed to prick them with a needle 😄.

BoomTish · 16/03/2019 23:50

Right, a needle and flannel tomorrow so. Half a bottle of wine down tonight so don’t trust myself to not do damage!

I’m plagued with them. Never had any until about six months ago and now constantly getting the feckers.

I'm actually jealous . I'm a total sporner. My mum gets them a lot and can't pin point why. She's very good with her basic skincare and drinking water .

FuckSakeFelicia · 17/03/2019 00:39

I get lots around my eyes and cheeks..

Probably my heavy moisturiser 🙄

ExplodingCarrots · 17/03/2019 00:44

Yeah I think one cause can be using heavy face creams around the eyes. Only use eye creams and a tiny amount and tap it in rather than rub.

BoomTish · 17/03/2019 00:54

I think I should have taken mostly-sober BoomTish’s advice from 23.50.

Currently sporting three little cuts on my forehead. Got one out easily enough, and it was very satisfying. Second one, I don’t know what happened. Got right on target but no amount of squeezing is getting it to budge.
Third one, I missed the mark by nano-millimeters so going to leave it and try again tomorrow.

If they don't come out on first attempt leave them. They scab over and come off with the scab. Happy days.

BoomTish · 17/03/2019 09:13

They scab over and come off with the scab

That sounds even more satisfying than squeezing them out!

Grace212 · 17/03/2019 11:36

OP did you use an ordinary needle?

BusterGonad · 17/03/2019 11:44

Dona is right, I stick a needle in mine and then leave it, within a few days it dries out and scabby over.
My son had one on his eye kid, I'm obviously not going to needle it, I did scratch it with my finger nail but that was all I could do, but luckily it just came off. I'm not sure if it was me scratching it or it just got to big!

CombFromAShoe · 17/03/2019 12:58

I'm also not keen on the needle thing - I've successfully got rid of them using chemical exfoliation.

2% salicylic acid applied daily, it took maybe 3 weeks.

OP did you use an ordinary needle?

Yes, I used a very fine one and disinfected in barbacide.

Barbacide always makes me think of dozens of murdered dolls.
