Eyebrow pencil help

Imstickingwiththisone · 15/03/2019 13:26

My eyebrows are pretty thick and bushy and unruly but I overplucked the beginning of them years ago so they start really suddenly (and are totally slugs).

I finally bought an eyebrow pencil today and it just looks like crayon on my skin? How the hell do I make this look natural and feathery?! The tutorials either use thousands of different products or they use a pencil and it looks fine but most tips are on the main eyebrow part? My bald bits are in a really odd place there's no tutorial out there with the same problem Grin

Use a brush or old but clean mascara wand to comb through.

FineFanks · 15/03/2019 16:08

Yeah, use a spooly to brush through.

Also, the trick is not to draw blocky at the beginning.

I line the bottom of my brows, then use a spooly to brush upstairs so the line is blended.

I use Benefit Precisely My Brow and find this the best (been using eyebrow pencils 10+years)

I also use Benefit Gimme Brow mascara to build them up to look all them fluffy and realistic, and keep in place

Thanks, the pencil I bought was blunt when I got it and it's even moreso now so this may be a factor. It had a brush on the end but that just seemed to wipe it off as there are no hairs where I'm pencilling in. I'll sharpen it and see if I can improve the results before buying better gear.

Fine is right, get yourself an eyebrow mascara to use with the pencil. Benefit one is great! Rommel do a pretty good one if you're on a budget.

It will take practice...take your time.

Imstickingwiththisone · 16/03/2019 11:06

Do you know which Rimmel one you would recommend poster? I bought a Maybelline which I'm really not impressed with but a lot of that could be my technique.

Definitely sharpen it. That’s why I like the Benefit one, it’s a twist up so no need to sharpen and the bib is tiny which allows you to draw on hair like flicks.

Whichever eyebrow mascara you get, you need one with a tiny wand.

FineFanks · 16/03/2019 16:16

*nib not bib!

FineFanks · 16/03/2019 16:17

Search inn youtube for a tutorial, or Benefits instagram

OP- it's Rimmel Brow this way.

You could also use a clear mascara.

Alsohuman · 16/03/2019 16:30

Sharp pencil, then tiny delicate strokes towards your temple to replicate hairs.

FineFanks · 16/03/2019 17:49

Rimmel Brow this way.

Used that one too, would recommend.

Would also recommend the Benefit Gimme Brow though, it gives a really natural and realistic look as it has fibres that cling to the hairs you do have to make them look thicker

DonPablo · 16/03/2019 17:51

You draw tiny little lines to mimic hairs and then blend in.

ConfCall · 16/03/2019 17:54

The beauty journalist Sali Hughes has today recommended the NYX one (£5.50). Her article is in the Guardian.

Thanks all, I just reviewed the one pencil I bought and it's an all round shite one so I'm happy to look into these alternatives on the basis I may not be inept with the right product.

Just bought the first cheap one I saw which is usually always a waste of time.

The £2.50 Kiko ones are amazing!! Very thin, with a little brush on the end, and they come with a sharpener.
