Which 'The ordinary' products should I buy for my mum?

She wants to start using acids as part of her skincare routine so I said I'd buy her a few 'The ordinary' Products for Mothers Day.

She has always had dry skin so has used thick moisturisers from a young age. She has fine lines around her eyes but is most conscious of the deeper lines around her mouth and forehead. Also her neck is starting to get loose skin which is hereditary.

I've read all the descriptions on the website and it seems alpha lipoic acid or lactic acid might be a good start. Alongside rose hip seed oil and maybe the buffet product?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Lactic Acid is supposed to be good to resurface the skin and it reduces wrinkles over time. Another option is one of the retinols. She should introduce it slowly (once a week for a few weeks, then gradually up to twice etc.) And stop if her skin starts to feel too exfoliated. Your mum will also need to wear sunscreen every day because her new soft skin will be more susceptible to sun damage. The Ordinary do an SPF but I haven't tried it yet so can't recommend it.

Buffet or the Marine Hyaluronics are both highly regarded and easy to use under moisturiser. They both made me really hairy so perhaps beware of that!

For oils, Rosehip is good as is Borage Seed oil. Squalane is a bit lighter (I consider it a 'daytime' oil). However I've just started using The Ordinary B Oil, a blend of different oils, and it is amazing. I mix a couple of drops with my night cream. It's a bit too rich to use in the day for my skin but it might sink in faster on someone with dry skin.

Good luck! I hope you find something to suit your mum's skin.
