Curvy ladies, where do you buy trousers?

Just wondering where all you fellow curvy ladies buy trousers from? I’m a 14 but big bum, hips thighs and heavy legs. Recently I’ve found that I can’t get a thing to fit as I feel lots of high street shops have changed the cut of their trousers. I used to swear by Gap chinos but they have changed their sizing.

Hi. I am an 18/20. I have bought from Evans, New Look, Debenhams, John Lewis, Monsoon (jeans). I am apple shaped so may be a different shape to you. Never tried Gap as not sure if there sizing is US or Uk. Oh and Wallis and Dorothy Perkins.

OhTheDramz · 12/03/2019 18:38

Hush harems
TU straight jeans
M and S tapered leg trousers

Fatted · 12/03/2019 18:38

Next. Mainly cow I'm also short and need their petite length. I tend to wear skinny trousers and jeans with lots of stretch in it.

MiddleClassProblem · 12/03/2019 18:41

F

I have bought some treggins from M&S recently though.
I’m struggling to find things that fit bum and thighs but don’t bag arounf the waist or elasticated trousers that the band isn’t uncomfortable/rubbing/digging the tum

froomeonthebroom · 12/03/2019 18:52

Yours for work trousers, TU for jeans and Matalan for harem summer trousers

fatpatsthong · 12/03/2019 20:52

Watching as same size and shape. I've tried loads of places and cannot get anything vaguely ok looking. I occasionally strike lucky in H&M in all places if I size up (tapered shape) but the fabric is crap.

I am now considering skirts

Fstar · 12/03/2019 21:33

Honestly, asda george is great, have many pairs of trousers and jeggings. Also m and s cotton rich jeggins look more like trousers

snaxinyourslacks · 13/03/2019 07:11

This is something I really struggle with too because I find most trousers are cut for small legs/bum and a bigger waist. I have found the following brands cut to suit my shape:- Monsoon, Mantaray, Maine, Seasalt, Joe Browns. They are probably not the most stylish but they fit and are comfortable.

VenetiaHall · 13/03/2019 07:20

I'm struggling with this too, after 2 children both c-sections I'm not massive but a bit bigger than my frame would like and have a weird belly/overhang.

Casual (ie stretchy!) trousers are not so bad but jeggings ALL fall down and I absolutely cannot find trousers for work anywhere. I'm going to have to wear dresses and skirts to work every day until(?) I am a bit slimmer... forever

opinionatedfreak · 13/03/2019 07:24

I'm hourglass. So "narrow" waist (I'm a size20 so it isn't that narrow) and bugger hips/thighs.

I buy trousers in Boden /Gap primarily.

Other places I have a problem with a gap at the back of the waist band as the hip:waist ratio is wrong.

hugoagogo · 13/03/2019 07:39

Debenhams are good for leaving a bit of room for thighs.

Loads of trousers at the moment seem to assume your thighs are the same width as calves.Confused

The tide must be turning with wide legs coming back.

Babygrey7 · 13/03/2019 07:45

Opinionstedfreak, I can't wear Boden as to me it always seems cut for straight up and down women Grin

Greyhound22 · 13/03/2019 07:46

I've found the Uniqlo stretch smart legging trousers to be good for work. I wear Sainsbury's slim jeans casually. I hate shopping for trousers I'm short and dumpy and it's really difficult.

YesQueen · 13/03/2019 08:06

Not trousers but the next hyper curve jeans are really good, don't gape at the back either

SlinkyDinkyDoo · 13/03/2019 08:28

opinionatedfreak which boden style trousers are you wearing? I have similar shape to you but have in the past found that if they fit round my massive thighs the waist is too big. Admitedly I haven't tried on every single style.

snowdrop6 · 13/03/2019 08:33

Simply be start at a size 14.. the smaller sizes are often in the sale.you can try at home as they deliver which is helpful..I picked up a few pairs of half price jeans at £14 a pair recently.

NotSureThisIsWhatIWant · 13/03/2019 08:43

Same problem here (thighs-waist radio), I almost use no trousers these days. I am mostly using long tunics/dresses/jumpers that accentuate the waist over H&M leggings (the expensive ones of their range) for jeggings I use Primark.

If you want to go this way, you need to ensure the dress/tunic/jumper ends half way between your bottom and knees (or longer) otherwise you look much fatter than you are. (I’m a size 18, around 5’8, most people assume I am a 12-14 with this trick)

GemmaXOX · 13/03/2019 08:53

Omg I need help to! find my self living in leggings!

I have a very bizarre body, size 8 / 10 on top and size 14 for the bottom half! Thunder Thighs and a huge bum, my waist is tiny and I have average boobs, Makes shopping a horrendous task. i stick to leggings and an oversized top all the time.

So I'm going to be watching this thread like a hawk!

bingoitsadingo · 13/03/2019 10:45

Some stuff in GAP is "curvy fit" - I've tried a few pairs and found them quite good.

Pandabandit · 13/03/2019 11:04

Per una Roma rise straight leg jeans work on my bum/waist ratio and come in a few colours that don't look too denim-y

OriginalGeordie · 13/03/2019 11:45

Thanks everyone. I had my perfect trousers in Gap Khakis but the changed them to girlfriend chinos which are cut straight and narrow. I can’t even get the 18 to fit right around the hips and bum! M&S I find narrow too, as is Next. Yes to Sainsbury’s straight leg jeans, they are fab. Going to try the Asda relaxed fit chinos, hoping they work at £12.50 a pair!

I always see plus jeans a a popular choice but I can only wear elasticated as the button would rub on my tummy, especially when sitting. That’s assuming I find some without the waist issue too...

Also my size varies so much from shop to shop.

I went through a period of leggings and dresses but they ride down after a while.

I might just give up and just be naked. I’m sure I could grow enough fur so no one would notice...

hugoagogo · 13/03/2019 18:30

Fur would be good, animals always look so cute when they are a bit plump. Grin

GraceMarks · 13/03/2019 20:40

I have no tips to offer, but I'm placemarking for fat thigh advice! I also find that a lot of trousers are cut too slim/skinny around the calves, so that they catch on my chunky lower legs and don't hang right. I don't like skinny styles anyway, but struggle to find anything else when it comes to workwear. I swear the less a trend flatters me, the longer it stays around.

MiddleClassProblem · 13/03/2019 20:54
