What colour was it originally and was it a dye or bleach that you used?

Bigonesmallone3 · 11/03/2019 21:00

You won't achieve that colour without bleach.
If what u put on it before was a bleach then you can try a toner.
Most shop bough toners are non-permanent so will need to either buy one online or go to a hair dresser supplier

sagradafamiliar · 11/03/2019 21:00

She has lovely hair.
You can only go darker with dye as it adds colour, you need to remove colour to go lighter=bleach.
I'd take her to the hairdressers as there's so much room for error.

MumUnderTheMoon · 11/03/2019 21:02

You can't dye hair platinum blond you would have to bleach it and now that it is a yellow/orange colour you should probably take her to the hairdresser.

Victormeldrew1 · 11/03/2019 21:05

the dye I used had bleach in it she was dark blonde before I used this dye

I would do it in a salon. She has lovely hair you wont want it broken.

User9797 · 11/03/2019 21:09

That's just a dye, to bleach it it has to have at least 6% hydrogen peroxide but you'll want a 10% to go that light blonde. After that you will need to tone it but toning it with a purple shampoo may cause it to go very slightly purple. If you must do it at home because of funds then make sure you read up before hand and do a patch test, and make sure you do it in sections so you don't miss any. I would also advise your daughter that this if she wants to stay platinum blonde it will need a lot of maintenance and bleach is very damaging to hair, that's why it's best to go to a salon, you may want to follow up with some hot oil treatments and deep conditioners/hair masks and not use too many heat products on the hair

User9797 · 11/03/2019 21:10

Also the picture of what she wants it like is not just one colour and it's not a box colour/bleach. It's got highlights and lowlights and will need professionals to get that kind of result

Victormeldrew1 · 11/03/2019 21:12

ok thankyou everyone for replying I think I'll defo take her to salon this is the first time she has dyed her hair and I don't want to ruin it so trio to salon tomo I think

U will need to go for strand tests 24hrs before they will do anything..
How old is dd?

shatteredandstressed · 11/03/2019 21:29

I like the colour you've achieved even if it's not the desired one. It doesn't look orange to me.

slidepuzzle · 11/03/2019 21:30

Take in the dye box so they can check what you’ve used already and yes she’ll need to have a patch test before they’ll do it.

Post a pic when it’s done!

Victormeldrew1 · 11/03/2019 21:31

she's 16 I used a box dye because I thought it would work as she is already blonde

OP posts:
Victormeldrew1 · 11/03/2019 21:33

I like the colour aswell but dd is adamant she wants platinum blonde she did want to go silver I said no to that lol

tumtitum · 11/03/2019 21:36

Definitely a salon job. I've been platinum blonde, from a light brown natural colour, and it's very hard to achieve!! Used to bleach my hair at home but salon results are way kinder to your hair!

IncrediblySadToo · 11/03/2019 21:45

Will her school be ok with it?

It would be a shame to spend a fortune st a son for her school to tell her she has to stay off until it’s a ‘natural’ colour. Girls school wouldn’t let them have that platinum. 🙄.

Fortunately the girls aren’t interested in dying their hair.

...yet 😱🤣

Victormeldrew1 · 11/03/2019 21:48

that was the first thing I asked her is if the school would allow it and she said they allow it now only just there's lots of girls with silver hair and vibrant red hair

slidepuzzle · 11/03/2019 21:52

If she knows anyone with the colour she likes, tell her to ask if they’d recommend the salon.

januaryfirst · 11/03/2019 21:59

I know your dd wants that colour but it seriously damages your hair and she's only young and has healthy looking hair.

Victormeldrew1 · 11/03/2019 22:21

yes your right but she's old enough to make decisions I could say no and then she could get her friends to do it for her
this way at least I can see what is going on her hair
