I'm trying to find something that is -
SLS free
Vegan/Cruelty-free
Suitable for coloured hair

  • preferably good for dry/sensitive skin.

I've got some Liz Earle shampoo which is SLS free but it's a horrible texture - it doesn't lather or foam at all, and when I put it on my hair it feels like slime. My hair doesn't feel any cleaner from using it.
I've also got directions shampoo for coloured hair and that doesn't lather either.
Whichever of these two I've used has just left my hair looking really lank. I've rinsed and rinsed to remove residue.

There must be something out there that is effective?

I use Maui Moisture & really like it. I'm currently using the blue one (dry hair, I think) but I'm planning on trying one of the other next time. It lathers well & my hair feels lovely if it's been blow dried or left to dry naturally.

vegan and cruelty free aren't the same though.

I have looked at many brands that state "Vegan" but when I search I find their Cruelty Free status doesn't match. Also check if they sell in China (whole other can of woms)

I use:

Aveda shampure
Kores (but mine has honey so not vegan)
BodyShop Ginger - but only with the conditioner not alone , it leaves my hair matted

I did use the Liz Earle - but again only with the conditioner afterwards

Shea Moisture is good - tonnes of products , some vegan , you need to sort through by hair type/ requirements

I've started using Superdrug 'extracts' conditioner instead of any shampoo. I saw people had been doing this on its reviews and it's so cheap I thought I'd give it a go. My chin-length fine hair loves it and I can get three days between washes. Makes my hair feel clean, bouncy and a tiny bit fuller than shampoo and conditioner.

It is sls free, silicone free, cruelty free and comes in 400 ml bottles for about a quid. Lots of different smells. I massage a big palmful into dry hair, then wet it a bit and scrunch it around before rinsing out.

Have you tried shampoo bars? They take a bit more time to lather up but I love the lack of plastic. You can get a bunch of different types at lush.

I like the Dr Organic products from Holland and Barrett, I think they're on offer at the moment too. The aloe shampoo and conditioner are good and also the rose Otto which smells lovely. They have a few 'flavours' to choose from. Totally agree about the Liz Earle duo, although the hair oil is fabulous and I've not been without it since it was launched.

Briogeo?

You can get it in TX Maxx and it's fab

Thanks - loads of suggestions here. Cruelty-free stuff is my first choice, vegan if I can afford it.
I'll go and browse in Superdrug! Grin

I like the Superdrugs Trichology S/C when my scalp is throwing a strop (I have psoriasis which flares up with stress) but I don't think it's SLS free .

Maria Nila Heal Shampoo. Saw a good set at my hairdressers and it’s been lovely for all the reasons you’ve listed above.
