Breast surgery for tubular breasts anyone?

Sorry, unsure the best place to post this. I’ve finally decided that I can’t cope with my boobs anymore. I have tubular breasts and had implants put in when I was 19. They looked okish for a few years. But since having dc and breastfeeding they are beyond hideous.

My boobs are now pretty much all areola. I always wear t shorts that go about my collar bone as I’m so paranoid of anyone seeing them. I have showers and baths in the dark as if I accidentally see them I cry. I look like some kind of a cow, it’s disgusting.

I made an appointment to see a surgeon for an assessment. He wanted some pictures of me topless so he could be prepared with suitable options. I did this and he emailed me back saying he couldn’t help me at all and would recommend I see my nhs GP 😔.

Has anyone had this done? Or breast augmentation with areola reduction at the same time? I just want these bastard things cut off.

Hopeful bump

I haven't but my friend has.
She's not really that happy with the results as there's a lot of scarring and nerve problems when you move the nipple.

itsbetterthanabox · 08/03/2019 21:19

She had tubular breasts.

MeowthThatsRight · 08/03/2019 22:41

Thanks itsbetterthanabox. Do you know which surgeon she used or where she had it done? I’m not expecting perfect boobs, I’d just like something to fit in a bra and be vaguely boob shaped.

Not sure where your based but John Murphy at Spire Manchester is a very talented breast surgeon

Op, you’ve probably read lots about it, but this article in reddit seemed useful.

I would definitely go back to the gp, as it’s affecting your mental health, as well as getting a referral to a more sympathetic plastic surgeon.

MeowthThatsRight · 09/03/2019 20:31

Thanks curly I did see my gp about it when I was about 16 and was put on a waiting list for surgery. But then I inherited some money and snuck off to Prague for a secret boob job.

It’s definitely affecting my MH but I don’t really want to go back to the GP. My friend went to her gp a few years ago as she has severe back pain due to massive boobs. She was told that no breast surgery that could be considered as being cosmetic would even be referred due to some cases being reported in the press. I’m guessing that silly bunt who bragged about getting an NHS boob job then became a glamour model or something? I’d rather just do it privately, it’s traumatic enough thinking about getting the horrors out in front of a doctor and I want it to be done as few times as necessary. I don’t know if a private surgeon would consider a mastectomy but if they didn’t feel they could get a good result I think I’d be pretty happy with a mastectomy.

OP, I really don’t think you should consider a mastectomy; but I think that you are considering it indicates how unhappy you are.
Honestly, gps have seen everything; I really would go and talk to your’s about how you are feeling, and get a referral to an nhs plastic surgery consultant.
Perhaps write a new post on chat for more traffic requesting some plastic surgeon recommendations in your area. If you can afford it, perhaps you might be able to at least pay for a private consultation, to understand your next steps.

What was the problem with your implants op? Shouldn’t they last ten years or so?

Walkmehome · 09/03/2019 22:40

Sorry maybe you did have them done more than ten years ago but I’m wondering how they have changed so much to be ‘hideous.’

MeowthThatsRight · 09/03/2019 22:44

The problem isn’t with the implants as such. I got the implants so that I had something to fill a bra, I had pretty much no breast tissue at all. My boobs grew when I was pregnant and I then breastfed. Since stopping the breast feeding my boobs have gone back to their previous size. In returning to my normal size my areola s are now massively stretched and now make up over half of my whole boobs. They’re about 10-15cm across and are visible if I show even the smallest amount of cleavage.

I can afford the surgery, that’s not so much an issue. But when I went showed pictures to a private surgeon I was told that they were unable to perform surgery as it was more of a specialist job.

You need to see a few surgeons to feel right with one

stclair · 09/03/2019 22:51

If I’m allowed to I can suggest an excellent surgeon, Kefah Mokbel. He operates at The Princess Grace Hospital in London. I can give you more detail if you like if you pm me (I don’t know how to do that!).

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 10/03/2019 06:53

The surgery to reduce the areola is definitely available. (Pre and post op photos from surgery in the US)

Sounds like you need a combination of procedures.
Would probably be best to replace the implants too.
