A product to give some oomph to fine/flat hair - dry shampoo?

I’m currently growing out short hair, and need some sort of product to stop my hair being so soft/slippery/falling flat and into my eyes (particularly when it's freshly washed).

The girls at work have suggested rubbing dry shampoo into the roots? Or does anyone have any other suggestions? I don’t want anything sticky or greasy.

Crimping gives great root volume.

The John Frieda volume in shower and pre blow dry treatments work well for me

I started using Tigi Small Talk for this and never stopped.

I was going to suggest crimping too. I have a micro crimper that is great.

I've just been to both Boots and Superdrug, and neither stock Tigi products? I assume this is a thickening/volumising product? Can anyone recommend something similar?

I've been using this and find it really adds grip to my roots. You only need a tiny bit.

That looks interesting Cato, is it like dry shampoo?

Yes, similar to dry shampoo but much lighter which makes hair easier to sculpt. Also, you sprinkle a small amount into your hand, easier to apply and control. Dry shampoo is ok IMO but easy to spray too much and make the hair too heavy. I've been really impressed with this. The tubes are quite small but they last ages.

Mousse. It's old school but it works. Just at the roots, when wet, and then blow dry and brush. It's not crispy then.

Micky - I was thinking about mousse, although I have memories from the 80s (showing my age here) and don't want to go bouffant !!

Thank you for all the suggestions. Someone at work suggested Umberto Giannini Weather Proof Curl Cream, and it’s wonderful. I would never have tried this, as I don’t have curly hair, however when used before blow drying it seems to coat my hair, giving it more ‘guts’ and preventing it from going limp and floppy. It’s amazing what you find my chance! I’m still interested in Tigi Small Talk,, but can’t find it anywhere on the High Street, maybe it’s exclusive to salons?

I also bought the Schwarzkopf Got2B Volumising Powder, but havent' tried it yet, I will report back when I do!

I totally second the pp who suggested small talk by tigi, you don't need a lot, I think my bottle has been on the go for a year and it's only half finished (I don't use it every day though). Try b&m is you have one nearby, they often have it there for about £7.
