Flat, stylish, comfy work shoes! Do they exist?

I really need some work shoes but I’m useless at shoes! Can never match the right pair to an outfit! I would like a new pair for work, they have to be flat and comfortable as I walk miles both in work, then on the school run when I finish for the day. My dress code is smart casual and I’d like them to match my trousers which are all either black, navy or grey. I usually wear Skechers go walks but they kind of look a mess at times. So please give me some ideas!

I am permanently on this quest. R&B loafers are good (but in the sale)

DeadCertain · 06/03/2019 18:17

I just got some of these which seem great so far: www.clarks.co.uk/c/Taylor-Palm/p/26115489

Also got some Clarks brogues and some from Office too; all comfortable.

My daughter has these in two colours as they are so comfortable

Or these style shoes

MadisonMontgomery · 06/03/2019 19:08

GH Bass loafers are fab, really comfortable.

Thedarklady · 06/03/2019 19:35

I would just opt from trainers for the walking and then wear whatever for work.

I like M&S flat shoes with insolia such as loafers. Some of their shoes are insolia and footglove, so extra comfortable.

ElfrideSwancourt · 06/03/2019 21:41

I always say the same - have a look at Fitflops. They do loads of styles, not just flip-flops, now.

Their ballerinas are very pretty, and the loafers too, as well as votts, trainers etc (I'm not paid by them but I should be!)

cornflakes5 · 06/03/2019 21:49

@DeadCertain I love the t-bars! Would it be so dreadful to wear them with socks...?

Oly4 · 06/03/2019 22:04

Russell and Bromley, the only shoes I can walk miles in

Ohyesiam · 06/03/2019 22:06

Brogues and only brogues

Howzaboutye · 06/03/2019 23:23

Another for brogues.
Clarks do a pair in gold. So fab

AutumnNymph · 06/03/2019 23:29

Amother vote for fitflops - I have way too many of them now. They are so comfy and pretty - I have had loads of compliments.

confusednorthner · 06/03/2019 23:33

Clark's Funny Dream, I wear dark red but several different colours available. Really comfy and I'm on feet all day.

mamalovebird · 06/03/2019 23:39

I bought these from Zara. Went for a colour that can go with practically every colour of outfit. Really comfy and smart.

mamalovebird · 06/03/2019 23:42

Gah... it won't let me attach a picture....

gelert5619 · 06/03/2019 23:43

I'm on my feet all day, have plantar fasciitis and only clarks hamble oak give me support. I have them in a range of colours from silver to multiple tone peach/cream and pink.

mamalovebird · 06/03/2019 23:44

Finally....

Flat, stylish, comfy work shoes! Do they exist?
CountFosco · 07/03/2019 06:04

What's your budget? Rogue Matilda have gorgeous flats, Dune is cheaper but also has a good selection including wide fit and lots of designer dupes. Clarks probably have the best made shoes in their price range.

OriginalGeordie · 07/03/2019 10:13

Thanks everyone! I love how comfy the Clarks funny dream ones look but can’t decide whether i like them or not. Going to try the rose metallic ones on on Saturday. Have ordered some Skechers loafers to try too, I know Skechers but they are just so comfy! My feet have spread so much and have become so painful since having kids!

The problem with wearing trainers and changing is that I’m so busy, I either forget or don’t have time.

£60 is maximum I want to spend.

I have wide feet and I find Vans trainers look quite simple and plain, as they don't have that chunky trainer sole they can look quite smart/grown up.
If your work isn't that formal they might work? I walk for miles in them each day. They also come in leather in black, white or grey, so I wear them through winter too

That said, I had to take my mother to Clarks last week for her difficult feet and if you go to a bigger Clarks they have a surprisingly stylish collection of comfortable nice options, less granny than I expected :-) I also have some great platform(wish) brogues from there

OriginalGeordie · 07/03/2019 11:51

What do we think of these

OP posts:
DeadCertain · 07/03/2019 12:03

@cornflakes5 don't see why not if you choose well!

DontCallMeCharlotte · 07/03/2019 16:47

OriginalGeordie

I really like those.

I especially like the name. You could wear them in honour of a certain previous poster...

Pigeon31 · 07/03/2019 16:55

Ecco are my go-to for comfy work shoes (I often walk 3-5 miles a day at work).
