Looking worn out

RainbowCushion · 05/03/2019 22:50

I’ve had a rough few months and have really started looking worn out and much older (am in my 40s) - bags, sallow skin etc. I need to fix this.

What are your top tips?

Steam room a few days a week.
Retinol.
New clothes.
Decent haircut.

Lots and lots of water, fruit and veg.
Anything in terms of a skincare routine at all - there will be loads of comments about retinol and The Ordinary a d serums etc. If you want to that, that's great, otherwise a good cleanse, and some half decent ( doesn't have to be expensive) moisturiser done daily will start to show a difference.
Eyebrows
Haircut

All good ideas ... what does a steam room do?

Elizabeth Arden 8 hr cream, walks in the fresh air, as much sleep as you can.

and Dove gradual tan.

Get enough sleep, have a short holiday (with lots of sex if that's possible Wink), up your moderate exercise (walking etc), eat lots of fruit and veg, drink less alcohol and eat less processed foods. Be a healthy weight. Get a good haircut that works with your lifestyle. Buy yourself some beautiful and comfortable shoes or a bag.

After two very stressful years I felt exactly the same RainbowCushion. I had really let myself go in terms of hair and skincare. I felt and looked at least ten years older when in the past I had always looked younger than my actual age. Since Christmas I have been cleansing and moisturising morning and evening. Also I am walking much, much more at every opportunity. I haven't had a haircut yet but I did colour my hair and I definitely feel this has made a big difference. I look better, not younger (yet) but not haggard plus I feel more confident. I have decided that if you give up on yourself it affects how you feel and that shows in your face.

Exercise. I’ve started doing some cycling. It’s making me feel tons better. Gives a nice glow to the complexion too!

sosososoTiredagain · 06/03/2019 12:53

I’m 36 and due to huge stress I now look dreadful it’s literally aged me 10 years in a few months and I want to cry each time I look in the mirror I’m so low.
I will be watching this for ideas as I desperately need to feel better and looo better I’m so unhappy

RainbowCushion · 06/03/2019 18:29

All good ideas! Especially upping the moderate exercise

Just started using Rimmel glow highlighter. That's helping and only a tenner.

travailtotravel · 09/03/2019 19:48

If you dont wear make up, as I can't be bothered most days, I either wear a b2b cream or just a good primer.

8FencingWire · 09/03/2019 19:55

Make up. Sleep. Exercise.
I look awful without make up, and I am not vain , nor am I a person that puts make up on to take the bins out. But I look awful without it.
BB cream, mascara, eyeliner, blusher and a bit of lipstick. Nothing elaborate.

cuppycakey · 09/03/2019 19:58

Zero alcohol makes biggest impact for me.

Plus regular beach walks.
