Indecent tights - help!

I recently bought a load of new M&S 40 denier black tights, and they are driving me potty. They are matt, rather than shiny, and when I am walking along in a skirt (above the knee) the skirt crawls up my legs until I am nearly flashing my crotch at passers by.
Will shinier tights help? Can anyone recommend any?

Underskirt or slip will prevent riding.

I'm struggling to find a short slip - I have long legs, and wear skirts at mid-thigh - which I guess is why I am so close to crotch flashing!

Could you sew a lining into your skirts? Doesn't have to be pro-standard.

I had this problem once, gaily walking over London Bridge, I was exposing my arse as a girl across the road kindly shouted to let me know. Mortified. Blush

Rub some moisturiser over the tights when you have them on.

Failing that you can get some anti static spray

ooo, I shall try the moisturiser trick first! That might even save me buying new tights...
@Don'tCallMeCharlotte Blush Grin that was so nearly me today!

Saving for the moisturiser tip. I have a skirt that rides up so I will give it a try.

Thedarklady · 05/03/2019 18:16

A slip? Maybe the tights are the wrong size?

DontCallMeCharlotte · 05/03/2019 18:46

Oh yes I'd forgotten about the moisturiser/ body lotion trick. Definitely works against clinginess.

Another good anti-static tip is to rub one of those tumble dryer sheets (like Bounce) over the offending item. Failing that, get a slip from M&S and just chop it to the right length. You only need to do a rough job of hemming it.

It’s odd if it’s just started hapoening. You must have an electric personality!

I doubt if shine tights would make much difference. Have you changed (or do you use?) fabric conditioner for both your skirts and your tights? That usually helps.

Debenhams had some mini slips. It might be worth checking. Black is the most practical and discreet colour.

Hairspray on the tights (the bit that will be covered by the skirt) works too

The other thing I’ve found that works is a tiny safety pin attached inside the skirt. If the label is near the bottom, I pin it to that, if not, I attach it to the side seam, near the hemline.
