What I do is wash in the morning, twice can a week. I comb my hair with a wide toothed comb, and, when my hair is still dripping wet, I add some product. My current time favourite is Umberto Giannini curl gel. I tip my head upside down and scrunch the gel in, until my hair looks curly again.
Then I "plop" my hair into a thin towel. I put the towel on my bed and sort of fold my hair up before making a turban out of the towel. I'll see if I can link a video.
Then I get dressed and do all my morning stuff while my hair dries a bit in the towel. Before I leave, I take off the towel. I use a diffuser on a hairdryer with quite high heat and low blowing power. I touch my hair as little as possible.
My hair is shorter than yours. You might prefer to try sleeping with your hair in a towel. Mine always goes flat on one side when I do that, but I think diffusing curls is harder on longer hair. Our just leaving your hair to air dry after plopping, which looks great but takes ages.
On days when I haven't washed my hair, I either spray with a curl refreshing or texturizing spray, or else scrunch it with a gel/water mix or some water-based lube.
Curly/wavy hair is unpredictable. Some days it looks amazing, and on other days bits will randomly go flat, or frizzy, or sick out at a funny angle, and you'll find a way to make that work for you.
Also, when you get a haircut, all the hairdresser to cut it to maximize the curl.
