Hair straighteners for ultra thick hair

Recently had my lovely thick hair cut into a shoulder length bobas I was fed up with the upkeep of long hair. I want my hair to look like it did when I left the salon, sleek and straight. Instead I'm left looking like I have a thatched roof on my head.

I have a pair of GHD straighteners, they were ok for my longer hair. They only have one heat setting, can't be adjusted.

Salon used Diva hair straighteners, does anyone have them and would you recommend, or any other brands I should be looking at?

I've never questioned my GHD's and also have thick shoulder length hair. I have no recommendations but am following OP!

how old are your GHDs - they do get knackered after a while. I've only tried cheapo other brands and GHDs have always been best, not been recommended anything better so also following thread with interest!

They're only a couple of years old, they're fine, cable isn't loose or anything. They're just not making my hair as sleek as I'd like.

i’ve got really thick hair and have always used ghds but i recently got ready at my sister’s and used her mark hill straighteners and i honestly
found them better than my ghds. they have an adjustable heat setting too.

Corioliss straighteners are better than GHDs on my long, thick wavy hair, I would recommend them!

The dyson airwrap to blow dry and a quick straighten after is awesome.

My gods packed in, everyone told me to try the cloud nine straightners... I went against advice (didn't want to waste £120 on straightners not knowing if they would work on my thick curly/frizzy hair ) I bought the wide plate ghds and my god they are awesome!!! Takes half the time to straighten!

I have Corioliss straighteners after reading reviews that put them ahead of GHDs. They’re great, had them years and they’re still going strong. Would definitely try the AirWrap if I had the cash though.

I had the GHD's with the wide plates as I have thick hair but find they actually made my hair quite fly away and not as sleek as I wanted. I purchased the L'oreal Steampod instead and they have been a revelation. Well worth the money and my hair is always super sleek and in much better condition than with any other straighteners. I really can't recommend them enough. They have adjustable temperature and wider plates andamazingly if your hair gets damp after straightening then it doesn't go frizzy as it dries again. They are all worth a look at in my opinion.

The only place I know were you can get Divas is called Sally's

A PP has posted about Sallys and attached a link - this is their trade price, you will have to pay retail unless you have a trade card (or use your hairdressers trade card). I have Diva straighteners and they are good. A plate best for thick hair is a titanium plate as it doesn't drag and judder while straightening your hair. Hope this helps.

I have long, thick hair and my wide plate Cloud 9's are brilliant, much better than my previous GHDs. Temperature is adjustable.
