English couple marrying.
I'm guessing it's going to be late in the late afternoon or early evening. Hot still! How will I look glamorous and not melt?!

The Ted Baker one is beautiful - only reservation would be that it's 100% polyester and has a metal neck bit (speaking from experience of having metal bits get far too hot in the sun....ouch!)

It's the right look though - ticks most of TSSDNCOP's list Smile

Love the style of that Ted Baker one. Red one isn’t right st all. It would be sweaty I think and would need strapless bra which always have those rubbery bits.

Thanks for the links! Agree the red is a bit too revealing, fab colour though! The ted is gorgeous but not sure my matronly bosom would do it justice Confused
I'm definitely going to order a couple of dresses from Aspiga for general holiday wear, great linen selection.

Nooo not linen. Great idea in the Uk but thick and scratchy and creased to fuckity in the hot destination

Tatapie · 05/03/2019 22:14

Ah ok, not linen then!! Cotton for day , viscose / silk for night? Jersey is too hot tho right? might just stay by the bar in a bikini! ( need whole new thread for that!Grin)

The linen blends are fine for hot weather- a bit lighter and less creasey than pure linen. And don't worry about polyester - it's not like 1970s Brentford Nylons any more!

I think you said it's an indoor/outdoor reception venue so a/c may not actually be an issue but you should cover your shoulders in the church.

Hi, I've been living in Greece for many years.

July is normally the hottest month for us and most wedding ceremonies start around 7pm (or later) when it's cooler. If it's an island wedding then the church might be so small that you won't be able to get inside! So comfy shoes important for standing. As PP have said, floaty dress good. Most people for island weddings wear long, floaty ones and either flat, pretty sandals or wedges - not high heels really. No one is fussed here about shoulders being covered in church so it's your own personal preference for that.

Meltemi usually in August on the Cycladic islands (Mykonos, Paros etc).
In July very likely you may not need a pashmina etc at all for the evening as can still be v hot.
I've never been to an indoors summer island wedding! Reception will be an outside venue too.

Our DD married on a greek island. Floaty and light is the way to go. Monsoon may be worth looking at once their summer stuff is in. Strappy, flat sandals. A spanish fan to waft around elegantly. Facial anti-perspirant will help keep the shine off too.

Brilliant thank you
