How do you remove your make-up?

If you wear a fair amount of make-up, how do you remove it at night?

I usually massage coconut oil in and wipe off with a wet face cloth. Just wondering if there is a better (but not too expensive) way to do it.

I use warm water to get eye make up as it's that tube mascara.

Then I use a hot cloth cleanser and Aldi moisturiser. I never ever miss taking my make up off even when I'm pissed!

I'm a firm believer in looking after your skin, I've very few wrinkles etc and I'm 50 this year! 😬

LynetteScavo · 01/03/2019 21:02

Cetaphil cleanser then any left over waterproof mascara removed with cotton pads and waterproof makeup remover (usually Boots No 7)

Then eye gel and a moisturiser.

I've tried lots of things like hot cloth cleanser etc, but this is the most effective, easiest and cheapest.

thenightsky · 01/03/2019 21:08

Botanics all bright eye make up remover is the only thing I've ever found that doesn't make my eyes sore. I soak double sided boots cotton pads and wipe. Then wash my whole face with Cetaphil, warm water and a cotton flannel.

Clinique take the day off balm - pricey but lasts me at least six months so well worth it. Nothing works as well as that for me!

Stumpted88 · 01/03/2019 21:16

My pillow is really stained Blush

brimfullofasha · 01/03/2019 21:57

Body shop camomile cleansing butter and a cheeky wipe pad.

Drogosnextwife · 01/03/2019 22:08

Soap and water sometimes st ives scrub and then nivea face cream or cerave.

frugalkitty · 01/03/2019 22:43

Almond oil and a warm flannel, Body Shop camomile eye make up remover first if I've had mascara on. Other cleansers I might have in depending on how my skin is behaving are Avene extremely gentle, Superdrug vitamin E, Body Shop cleansing butter and Elemis cleansing balm. Always use a warm flannel though, have done since about 1988!

I'm a new convert to the face halo. It's going to save me so much money on cleanser. I've bought two so I have one to use while the other is in the wash.

Lyn29 · 01/03/2019 22:52

Micellier water on eye make up, burts bees deep cleansing cream, take off with a hot muslin cloth, liz Earle skin tonic and then either any serum or face oil for bed.

Springiscomingsoon · 01/03/2019 23:18

@TurquoiseWeekend do you have up put the face halo in the washing machine after each use?

MrsChollySawcutt · 01/03/2019 23:32

La Roche Posay make-up removing cleansing milk removed with cotton wool
pads to take off foundation, mascara etc.

Followed up with a second cleanse with either Jurlique gentle face wash or Bare Minerals cleansing foam.

Then Votary toner, eye cream and night cream.

Milliy · 02/03/2019 00:12

Baby wipe

Dreamzcancometrue · 02/03/2019 00:14

I use baby wipes. Works a treat and leaves my skin feeling fresh!

MsMustDoBetter · 02/03/2019 00:17

Hot cloth cleanse twice and swipe with toner to pick up any residual make up.

LaurenOrdering · 02/03/2019 00:40

Depending on how tired or can't be bothered I am it varies from going to sleep in my make up or a Superdrug Sensitive Face Wipe or Garnier Micellar Water or Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish. Usually go over my eyes with an eye make up remover such as Liz Earle or the Garnier Micellar.
Tone with Liz Earle or Clarins Toning Lotion with Iris, sometimes use Paula's Choice exfoliant, Alpha H or a Nip & Fab Glycolic Pad.
Then facial oil usually Clarins or Liz Earle or whatever samples need using up.
Night moisturiser can be anything from nothing to currently using M&S Sleep Cream or Korres Wild Rose Night Cream.
Am 46 with no lines except a a faint line by the right eye (this I put down to contact lense use by having to tug skin round eye area to remove lenses).
I put my good skin down to genes (good skin runs in the family), massage/oiling skin & some kind of spf or moisturiser with spf during the day.
Also diet is quite Mediterranean i.e. olive oil, tomatoes, fish, chicken, vegetables etc.
But I suppose my love of wine, cheese, chocolate & potatoes in any form negate that Smile

The coconut oil works so well to remove my make-up without causing any dryness, and it is sooo cheap. I bought a jar from Superdrug about 6 months ago and I’m only coming to the end of it now.

I didn’t know almond oil could be used in the same way. I might give it a go in future.

I definitely prefer using face-cloths to wipes, better for the environment and gives a deeper clean for me personally.

Some good ideas here Smile
I’m 33 now and only just becoming interested in skincare so interesting to see how other people do things.

trendingorange · 02/03/2019 12:43

Those who you use coconut oil etc and cloths, can I ask..
Do you have a fresh cloth everyday?
Doesn't putting all this oily cloths in the wash ruin your washing machine/other clothes in the same wash?

Switsy · 02/03/2019 12:46

Fresh cloth everyday. It's a few mls of oil, most of which drains down the sink. I'm not sure what damage you're imagining!

f83mx · 02/03/2019 12:58

Are the face halo the same as using a micro fibre cloth? Or is that more abrasive ?

Missmarplesknitting · 02/03/2019 13:13

Face halos are super soft.

I have two. I wash mine with basic bar soap after use them after 2-3 uses it goes in the machine. Have three on rotation.

Was cynical but they're brilliant. Saves washing 7 facecloths a week and fewer products.

fruityb · 02/03/2019 19:34

I have cheeky wipes washable make up pads: they’re huge and you get ten in a pack. I wash them after every use - just chuck them in with the rest of the washing. Haven’t hit a point where I don’t have a clean one yet.

bingohandjob · 03/03/2019 08:03

Superdrug Vitamin E hot cloth cleanser. Massage all over then use as hot as I can manage water with a thick cotton flannel - hold it on face for fifteen seconds or so to get it all melty, rinse, then kind of buff around a bit (very technical), rinse then final go over face with the hot cloth. It works really well for me - clear skin, removes everything, skin doesn't feel tight. I use a clean flannel each time, chuck them in a weekend wash.

Bluesheep8 · 03/03/2019 09:08

Liz Earle cleanse and polish. Followed by instant boost skin tonic. Used it for at least 15 years and refuse to use anything else.
