DIY Dermaplaning

Has anyone tried this?

I have alot of peach fuzz especially on my chin and I've heard dermaplaning is a good way to get rid of it as well as refreshing crap skin.

Any experiences? I really can't afford to pay salon prices to have it done professionally, especially on a regular basis.

Hello yes I do this .I love it , make up goes on better as the skin is really smooth after .You can get a blade in a beauty supply store and there are loads of you tube videos to follow

Cleffa · 28/02/2019 21:56

Thanks Fluffy good to know it works.

Is it quite easy to do? Any tips?

I do it. You can get razors from amazon - look for eyebrow razors. Hold at 45 degree angle.

Cla9 · 01/03/2019 18:40

I do mine. Get the razors online and watch a YouTube tutorial. Easy and really makes a difference.

MortyVicar · 01/03/2019 19:35

I bought this a few weeks ago and it makes a fantastic difference.

It's more expensive than the eyebrow shaper types, but it's like a safety razor, you can't really go too deep and the ceramic blades will last a long time.

Newhouse76 · 01/03/2019 21:25

How often do you dermaplane? I might give it a try

BettysMom · 02/03/2019 22:23

I do it myself after having it done in a salon a few times. Bought some surgical blades from Amazon, cleanse thoroughly with a cleansing oil and then hold the blade at 45 degrees and make little movements. Don't go near the thin skin near the eyes. Stretch the skin around the nose and chin. Works just as well as in the salon.

Why not just get a normal razor? Dermaplanning is surely just a shave?

Cleffa · 02/03/2019 23:09

That's what I wondered dead

Seems planing is just shaving isn't it so why not?

Palominoo · 03/03/2019 07:11

Shaving cuts the hair just at the top of the skin. Dermaplaning scrapes off a layer or layers of skin as well as taking off the hair that is above the surface of the skin.

deadsexy · 03/03/2019 09:25

Ok @Palominoo but surely there lots of other safer ways to exfoliate the skin?

I just couldn't risk the stubble 🙈

Cleffa · 03/03/2019 09:33

Exfoliating doesnt get rid of the peach fuzz though

It sounds like it's just shaving, but it's not. The blades are sharper and the action is different, so as Palominoo says the end result is different.

I did my face a week ago, and it's still smoother than usual and hair free. The last is a miracle because my hair everywhere, not just on my head, grows like grass.

Cloudtree · 03/03/2019 15:28

I dermaplane using a normal razor. It takes off the skin in exactly the same way if you use it dry.

sammy891 · 03/03/2019 22:08

The little eyebrow razors work great for this. I would be too scared using the surgical blade without any experience!

Schoeny · 09/03/2019 12:51

@MortyVicar how are you getting on with your ceramic razor now you've had it a bit longer? Is it easy to use? I seem to have loads more peach fuzz than I used to, so I'm really interested in trying something like this.

luckylin · 17/04/2019 12:11

Has anyone tried an epilator for banishing peach fuzz? If so, did the fuzz change into the kind of hair you get after plucking (which I understand is a big no no). I read epilator is fine to use, but surely it's just another (faster) version of plucking?
