Product to make hair ‘messy’

InglouriousBasterd · 28/02/2019 10:27

I’ve just had my hair cut to jaw length - I love it but it has a tendency to fall into a nice neat Bob which so isn’t me Grin

I’ve been using the straighteners to flick it out and then mess it up a bit but that’s a pain to do all the time.

Are there any products out there that can texturise / create a messy look without making my hair solid and sticky?

TIA

I use texturising gum from V05 or there is one by Wella which is a Styling serum

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 28/02/2019 10:30

Dry shampoo or texturising sprays

InglouriousBasterd · 28/02/2019 10:37

Ooh thank you. I saw the gum but worried it would do the sticky thing! I had a feeling texturisers would work well - I’m about to hit Boots!

I'm always trying to create messy looks for my bob. Are you going to post a photo of your finished look?Smile

Sea salt spray in a dull blue bottle; can't recall the brand. Nicely textured messy but not sticky.

GregoryPeckingDuck · 28/02/2019 11:49

Bed. Get in it. Have a nice long nap. Get up and go!

BarkandCheese · 28/02/2019 11:51

Superdrug do a budget version of the salt spray, it seems just as good as the expensive brand ones.

WildCherryBlossom · 28/02/2019 11:54

I've tried sea salt spray and didn't get on with it (mine is a yellow bottle, not blue. Maybe that's where I went wrong). I have read rave reviews of a product by Bumble and Bumble but it's around £20 so I haven't tried it yet. Would be interested to hear from people who have....

I've managed to mess it up a bit using my Babyliss to create slightly dishevelled waves but still haven't quite achieved the effect I'm after.

FloofyDoof · 28/02/2019 11:57

Sea salt spray. I like the sachajuan ocean mist best, but John Frieda and Toni & Guy ones are pretty good too.

A powder works wonders on my hair! I've tried all sorts and this is the only thing that works

Oh lots of ideas!! Thank you!

Gregory - that’s exactly what I do Grin looks perfect at first then falls into a lovely smooth and well behaved bob once I’m moving around! I’m constantly messing it up to try and get the tousled look...

I use all the got2b range. They do a dry texture shampoo, puff powder and hairspray.

InglouriousBasterd · 28/02/2019 14:39

So I’ve picked up the got2be powder and texturising spray as it promises no crunch and the range is on 3 quid offer at the moment - definitely worth a try. Will report back!!

I’ve hear good things about bumble and bumble but the price makes me wince!

I was just about to suggest Bumble and Bumble Texture Creme. It's amazing. It is indeed pricey, but a tube of it lasts me months - you really only need a tiny amount each time.

GiveMeFiveMinutes · 28/02/2019 14:55

Is it long enough to plait small sections, or divide in to two buns? If done when your hair is slightly damp and left overnight, that would provide a decent texture for a messy look.

InglouriousBasterd · 28/02/2019 14:59

Give me - I tried that the other day but it looked like I had Lego hair 😄 I think because it’s naturally curly (it used to be ringlets pre DC and is now just meh unless straightened)

Ah Waving I might have to give it a go...I’ll see how I get on with the cheapies first!

Bumble and Bumble Dryspun Finish. Or Cool Girl by Charles Worthington (embarrassing name but it’s marvellous!)

Brickshed7 · 28/02/2019 16:10

I use L'Oréal Scruff Me, which my hairdresser recommended. T'is excellent.

LittleKitty1985 · 28/02/2019 16:24

I use this to create my wavy bob: www.johnfrieda.com/en-uk/products/frizz-ease/air-dry-waves-foam/

I literally just put it through my damp hair and scrunch it. It dries curly and very soft.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 28/02/2019 16:27

Dryspun finish is lovely, but it goes very quickly.

InglouriousBasterd · 28/02/2019 16:48

Oh Scruff Me has amazing reviews!
