Hair dye for sensitive scalp

Boulardii · 28/02/2019 10:09

Hi everyone,
I dyed my hair a few months ago with a Schwartzkopf brand dye. It looked great, but i had sore spots on my scalp for about 6 weeks afterwards. I also needed to wash my hair much more frequently as it got greasy much quicker.

I have let the dye grow out (roots are quite extensive now!) and these problems have gone away.

However I need to snarten up for work, so I wondered if anyone had any recommendations of something less harsh... the colour doesn’t stay true for long with a permanent dye anyhow so I would consider a semi permanent (coupleof important meetings coming up)
Thanks for your help

I use one I get from Holland and Barrett. Phergal Naturtint. It's on their website. Not organic, but doesn't contain PPD (I think that's it, it's one of the ingredients most likely to irritate apparently). I've been much better since using it. Often have offers on, I tend to wait for one, then stock up, and get free delivery that way too.

Thank sponge bob. I can pop in there and have a look.

I use dark brown henna. Very messy but no nasty chemicals

Sally, that’s a great idea! I used to use it and it was great. Then I couldn’t find any so tried lush henna which simply didn’t work.
What’s do you get it from?

I get one called "It's Pure Organics" dark brown henna. I get it from amazon for about £11. I really like it. I didn't like the Lush one because I had to spend half an hour grating it before use!

Boulardii · 28/02/2019 22:35

Hi sally, yes! It blunted my cheese grater too!

Do you know if it works okay on grey hair?

Henna does not work well on grey hair.

Lush dark red or brown henna works well on grey hair. No need to grate, just chop it up .

@Boulardii It covers my greys!
