Giant pores... help!

I’ve always had biggish pores but lately they seem enormous.

They’re worst on my nose, the front and the fold at the sides and it’s spreading to my cheeks and between my eyebrows.

They’re not blackheads or sebaceous filliments (sp?) they’re completely clean and empty but depressingly enormous.

It’s really knocking my confidence to be honest. I’ve got alarmingly oily skin anyway and this has just made me feel awful.

I’ve tried lots with no success both skincare and make up. Can’t do silicone primers because of the oily ness of my skin.

At the moment I use Superfacialist salicylic acid facewash followed by nip & fab dragons blood pads then The Ordinary Niacinamide most mornings. Double cleanse in the evening, glycolic acid toner then The Ordinary 2% Retinol after 30
minutes.

I’ve been toying with ordering Paula’s Choice 2% BHA maybe?

Can anyone suggest anything to help fix and or mask them? I’m at my wits end and will be forever grateful for advice.

Hello, I’m sorry, I’m not a skincare expert (and I hope someone will be along shortly with some actual advice for you - I’d be interested in it too!)

I just wanted to say that I’ve spent a lot of time worrying about the size of my pores and failing to do much about them with various acids and peels - but I recently realised that I’ve never in my life noticed anybody else’s pores and it’s extremely unlikely that anyone is noticing mine. I’d still like them to be a bit smaller, but they’ve slipped right down my list of worries.
Sorry, that’s probably annoying and unhelpful - but I just felt a lot better for looking at mine differently.

I have the same problem and I can't find any skin care products that actually make them smaller!

Loose setting/finishing power works wonders though. I apply it with a damp beauty blender and leave it on while I do the rest of my make up then bush off the excess. It blurs over the big pores on my cheeks. I have tried a few but have the too faced one at the moment.

Unfotunately, there is nothing that will make pores smaller. They are a little like shoe size, they are what size they are and you can’t change their size. They don’t open and close, despite what some skincare brands suggest. Your skin sounds otherwise clear and healthy, that’s great.
What can you do? You can blur them. I find porefessional primer from Benefit good. Avoid illuminating foundations and make up products - they will make your pores appear larger. Demi-matte or even matte make up. If your skin is very oily, consider one of the longwear makeups, although some derms don’t like these.

Having said all of the above, I agree with ToftheB above. Most people don’t notice them, certainly not as much as we notice them ourselves.

@ToftheB No not in the slightest annoying and unhelpful. Very lovely actually and reassuring. Thank you Flowers.

@Sdeko I’ve recently tried this with my NYX finishing powder although it’s pressed and it helps initially but then my pores seem to break through. I’ll pick up some loose powder and give it another crack. Thanks for the tip.

@championquartz Thank you Smile. I know you can’t close your pores (is it Caroline Hirons who says they’re not a door?) but mine are so significantly worse lately I was wondering if anything could temporarily reduce their appearance.

I have tried Porefessional and various others but as I’m so oily the silicone doesn’t sit well on my skin.

I’ve gone and bought La Roche Posay Serozinc and the Effaclar Duo + today in the hope they might help somewhat. I’ve used the Effaclar before when I was rather spotty and it helped my overall skin texture so hoping it may this time too.
