Please tell me about eyebrows

I am sure this is a really basic question, but I am completely clueless at beauty stuff, so please explain to me in words of one syllable!!

I have always plucked my eyebrows so they look reasonably neat. But over the last 5 years, I've found that my eyebrow hairs have kept growing, with the result that some of them get really long. I have tried cutting them, but the result has been to give myself very noticeable 'lines' throw the brow - not good.

I've noticed women with very neat brows with short hairs, that look like they have all somehow been cut fairly short. What is this, please, so I know what to ask for?

Also, I suspect I am greying quite badly (dyed hair, so it's hard to tell) as my eyebrows have definitely lightened. How do I dye them so that I can get a more defined, but still natural look? I do not want to look like they have been drawn on with a crayon, though!

TIA for help.

book in for a brow thread and tint - they'll even out any length, start to reshape if needed and tint to your desired darkness!

BartonHollow · 26/02/2019 15:33

I get mine waxed and tinted professionally now

You brush the hairs upward and then trim along your upper eyebrow line and then brush them back into place and they will be the right length

Buy a shaver that comes with an attachment that trims them to the perfect length

I do that in between getting mine waxed (I have fine hairs) and threaded

Definitely book in for threading- the brush the hairs up and trim them really neatly. I used to wax for years but would never go back to it now.

dontcallmelen · 26/02/2019 17:35

Yy threading & tinting, much better results & lasts longer than waxing I find.

downcasteyes · 27/02/2019 07:37

trixie - oh my GOD I can totally see how it's done now!! I was trying to cut them in line with the brow and ending up with such a mess. Thank you so much, you and everyone else who has advised.

Brow thread and tint noted - I might treat myself to one of those next week. Smile

I always get mine professionally waxed by a beauty therapist. The lady brushes them up and trims time (as previously described).
(I used to get them threaded and swore no way would wax ever touch my skin. But it hurt so much and the lady who does my nails suggested I try waxing, i did and I've never looked back. I find it quicker, easier, better shape, way less painful and longer lasting). She does them every 3 weeks.

stayathomer · 01/03/2019 00:43

I'd get them threaded but as for the ringing just be careful OP, I've never gotten good results but bought Benefit brow tint thingy ( sorry, the name escapes me!) In my natural colour and everyone asks me where I get my brows done. It's a godsend!!

cathyandclare · 01/03/2019 04:37

I get mine threaded and trimmed, they're brutal but brilliant ( the women that do it, not my brows!) I also whack a bit of my hair colour on my brows when I'm doing my roots, which is easy and seems to work without being noticeable.

I tint mine at home because every place I've been has dyed them too dark for my very fair hair. It's so easy and it only takes about 10 seconds. Bought my stuff from Amazon, light brown for eyebrows then mix with the blue for eyelashes, gives a much deeper black than the black dye. Also veet under my brows which I know is terrible for my skin but I'm lazy..
