Babyliss Big Hair = Big Mess

Argh was so looking forward to trying this, I can’t get the hang of it at all! I just look like Hagrid. Blush

I’ve dried the majority of my hair and sectioned it but it just looks like absolute rubbish?!

How the hell do I get it right?! Don’t want to let it sit in the drawer... Sad

I couldn't do it either, it left me like a sad Shirley Temple. Lurking for tips.

Lala503 · 24/02/2019 20:10

This isn't how they recommend you do it but- I found it took a long time to actually 'dry' my hair and it ended up damp/a mess. So I rough dry until my hair's 80-90% dry. Then use the big hair.
Works really well for me.

GreenOliveOrBlackOlive · 24/02/2019 20:14

I don’t use mine all the time as I find it to be a bit of a faff.
But it seems to work better for me if I pretty much dry my hair as normal with a hairdryer then use the BBH to finish it off.
Using it as a hairdryer alone just doesn’t seem to work for me Confused which I admit does probably defeat the object. But I get a better result.

GreenOliveOrBlackOlive · 24/02/2019 20:18

Yes, exactly what Layla says Smile

AgnesNaismith · 24/02/2019 20:18

Yes you absolutely have to dry it off first. The way a hairdresser blasts your hair dry then uses a brush to get the shape - that’s how you need to see it. A model recommends did the most simple demo on her YouTube which I started with.

Ffsnosexallowed · 24/02/2019 20:18

I thought that you were meant to dry your hair 80%before using the big hair? That's what I do, and seems to work well.

fermezzlabouche · 24/02/2019 20:24

I've not had mine long, I dry it to about 80% and then section it off and use it. I've not quite mastered curling it though I just get a bouncy but straight look. Nicely smooth though.

DeRigueurMortis · 24/02/2019 20:36

Tbh I find it really easy to use.

I simply dry my hair to about 90% dry with my hair dryer then section it.

I start at the bottom and work upwards.

I wouldn't use it from wet.

ginyogarepeat · 24/02/2019 20:48

You're supposed to mostly dry it first with normal hairdryer! No way could you get any decent result from starting with very wet hair.

GregoryPeckingDuck · 24/02/2019 20:52

I put hair styling serum, brush through, let dry to about 70% then use the bab@yss. The key is to take very small sections and run it up and down (don’t let it curl up and just sit there). If you want to achieve a curl then curl your hair around once it’s dry, leave it on heat for one second and then blast it with cold air for three. And repeat.

FudgeBrownie2019 · 24/02/2019 20:55

Kerastase Ciment Thermique is amazing with BBH. Rough dry it til it's 80% dry, section it and BBH the whole lot starting from the bottom and working your way up. YouTube has loads of useful videos, but I find using it in the opposite direction helps keep my hair smooth rather than Hagrid. Kerastase Elixir Ultime is amazing for shine without losing volume when you've finished drying, too.

Travisandthemonkey · 25/02/2019 22:49

I dry it totally and then use it.
It’s a godsend

Babygrey7 · 26/02/2019 07:47

I also dry it, almost totally, then use it

5 mins later salon styled hair Grin
