I'm 50 with black circles BB not working

I've used Bobbi Brown corrector and concealer for years but it's not really suiting me now, it seems to sit in my creases.
Any ideas what else I could try?
I have looked at Tear Troughs but the Dr thought I had a high risk of bruising.
Olive/ sallow skin with blue eyes.
Healthy budget to cover these deep blue bruises.

I've just bought Nars tinted moisturiser and so far I'm impressed. It blends so well and the colour choice is massive. I was even able to blend it right up under my eyes to hide my under eye shadows, I've never been able to do this before without serious creasing. There was no need for me to use concealer in that area either.

greenpop21 · 23/02/2019 22:25

I was watching This Morning this week and they did a piece on dark circles. Paler skins should use a peachy corrector and a more orange tone for darker skin. They had some product recommendations that didn't sit in creases too so might be worth a catch-up? I think it was yesterday.

Inthemane · 23/02/2019 22:31

I find the Revolution Conceal & Correct orange concealer very good - I have very dark circles especially after bouts of illness. The orange will counteract the darkness of the circles.

Definitely use an eye cream/primer about 10 mins beforehand, then apply the concealer. Over the top of the orange try Maybelline Eraser Eye Concealer - it's very moist and comes in a sponge, so doesn't tend to sit in creases.

The new boots hydra luminous concealer is getting good reviews for under eye circles.

mooncuplanding · 23/02/2019 22:42

This is usually diet related often made worse by genetics

Look at your diet as the best thing you can do to relieve this problem

I’m an ex dark circler. By cutting carbs and sugar to pretty much zero

ItmustbeGlove · 24/02/2019 06:36

Thanks all.
It is genetic , DM's are not good and I do have a healthy diet.
I'll try out some samples of your recommendations.

Any opinions on Lancôme concealers? make up alley seems to rate them.

saxatablesalt · 24/02/2019 07:24

Sorry but what is the evidence that cutting carbs get rid of dark circles?

I eat tonnes of carbs (and yes, sugar too, shock horror disaster), and I have no dark circles.

Can't stand pseudo diet science.

lazymare · 24/02/2019 07:33

Gluten make my purple streaks much worse.

saxatablesalt · 24/02/2019 07:47

Unless you are a diagnosed coeliac, I doubt that.

NigellasGuest · 24/02/2019 08:46

I use a Bobbi Brown corrector, but there are so many shades it's best to go to a counter to get matched for the right one.

NigellasGuest · 24/02/2019 08:49

Oh I'm sorry I just re-read the OP - Bobbi Brown is a non starter for you. Could it be though that you need to change your moisturiser instead, so that the BB corrector stops sitting in the creases? Regarding tear troughs, where did you go for advice? My people use a canula to reduce bruising (I haven't had it done myself but asked about it).

feelingsinister · 24/02/2019 08:50

Benefit do some good concealers. I use
bo-ing brightening under my eyes but if that's not enough coverage there's also the industrial strength one. If you go to a counter, they're really helpful.

LaBrujaPiruja · 24/02/2019 14:12

Trish McEvoy Instant Eye Lift has been a life saver for me. Expensive but worth it, imho.

I use it on its own or, sometimes, on very bad days, get a bit of It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye on top of it.

LaBrujaPiruja · 24/02/2019 14:20

Benefit's Lemon Aid is an eyelid primer, but works wonders on the very very dark circles when worn underneath a concealer with a light texture.

CassieStuart · 24/02/2019 15:11

I've found upping my water helps a lot. I have dark circles and when I up my water intake they do reduce to the point where concealer works - I use the Bobbi brown ones and also chantecaille.

ItmustbeGlove · 24/02/2019 15:43

Thanks all.
I normally shop online but think I'll need a city shopping expedition.
I tried Lemonaid but it was dry on my lines.
Trish McEvoy or Chantecaille look good possibilities.

The maybelline one is great. I use it so much, and I'm not a regular make up user. I'll use it barefaced. It's a fantastic match for me, really invisible.

NotExactlyHappyToHelp · 24/02/2019 19:21

I have the darkest circles and I use Collection concealer. It’s about £4 in Boots and it’s bloody genius. Doesn’t crease or move and covers them up beautifully.

AltogetherAndrews · 24/02/2019 19:32

Nip/Fab do a yellow under eye concealer which is liquid, I find the creamier ones settle into creases.

ItmustbeGlove · 25/02/2019 09:22

Quick update. I went shopping quite locally but there wasn't a lot of choice so I've bought Clarins Instant Concealer.
It looks quite promising but will report back.

I'm in your position OP, dark circles but BB dark peach makes sure I can see all the wrinkles I didn't know I have. I'm looking at dermablend, so if I try it I'll let you know. I really want to avoid fillers.

ItmustbeGlove · 25/02/2019 09:38

It must be such a common problem winter, there must be a perfect solution that doesn't involve fillers.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 25/02/2019 11:29

Trish McEvoy did nothing for me, just nothing and it’s very expensive as well.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 25/02/2019 11:32

Same with the BB corrector, it does help if you moisturise, but it still tends to sit in the
—canyons— wrinkles.

I’ve given up trying to disguise the dark circles and have instead embraced the smudged smokey eye.
