9 year old spots

Over the last couple of months dd2 seems to be developing a healthy crop of zits. Good old fashioned spots with the odd blackhead and whitehead thrown in for good luck.

I am a bit surprised as she has very few other signs of puberty but these really do look like what I had as a teenager.

How can we help her? We have had a lot of chats about body changes and the need to keep clean now she's growing up of course so not that but practical steps.

I've tried her with a couple of soaps and a dove bar. She's used my bog standard face wash and she's now trying a clearsil gentle wash which if anything is making her worse.

She complains her skin gets dry but also hates any kind of gentle moisturiser. Dh suggested some wipes as they are easy but I am not a fan

Don't want to make this a 'thing' but want her to start building this into her daily routine so good skincare becomes a habit and she can weather her teen years better than I did!

Liz Earl cleanse and polish is lovely and gentle and no need for moisturiser. It's a little pricey but if you prefer Superdrug do a version too which is good.

Go gentle. Clearasil is harsh stuff.

Cetaphil or a really mild soap free cleanser like Glossier milky gel or the MooGoo milk 'soap' for a bar.

I did wonder re the clearsil - this is a 'gentle' one but even so. Will look into the others thank you. I know I don't get on with liz Earle at all but my mum does so may pinch some of hers

La Roche Posay Effaclar is another good one to try. Cetaphil is also good for young skin.

I swear by simple and the tiniest smidgen of aveeno afterwards. It's very very light and doesn't feel like there's anything there very quickly especially if you rub it into wet skin

In my experience no amount of soaps or face washes will get rid of hormonal spots/acne. If she's really bothered by them the GP will be able to prescribe something.

I used to have zineryt to dab on mine when I was young and had hormonal spots. Worked a treat and because you only dab it on the spot, it doesn't make the rest of your skin dry.
