Foundation/Powder Cream/BB cream oh my!

Morning

Skin has turned into a mottled mess since becoming preggers again and my usual go tos of Maybelline Dream Mousse (01) OR Beautiful Me Mineral Powder (01 Fairy Glow) now don’t work as they should - my skin looks dry and I look embalmed, even with primer underneath (Maybelline Baby Skin).

I need a lightweight something that will give me a base and also perhaps a bronzer that won’t make me look weird. Do you know of any creams that would tick all the boxes?

Am just sick of looking like I’ve come straight from the mortuary.

Will pay for decent products too.

FWIW I’m very fair with pale skin and blonde hair.

I'm having exactly the same angst (although not pregnant, just old)! Embalmed is how I'd describe the look, too! I've been using bareMinerals original mineral powder for years and am starting to find that now, having hit my mid-thirties, it's sitting in my fine lines and making me look really old. I'm also pale, I have cool undertones so anything that isn't cool looks orange on my face.

I'm popping to Tesco tonight and plan on picking up the Garnier BB cream with salicylic acid as that appears to be on offer at the moment, and I've seen it recommended on here. Dior is also good, apparently, although haven't tried it myself. Sorry I don't have much else for you! I know the Boots Botanics BB cream was very popular on here, but has been discontinued.

Tropic BB cream and powder foundation

TeaforTwoBiscuitOrThree · 22/02/2019 15:40

Pressed powder can be really ageing. I used the Clinique foundation for a long time (the stuff in the green tube) - it's really light.

right now, I 'm using the (gasp) Lidl BB cream and it's lovely.

I'm not fair but I have combination skin which is a pain for foundation. I've noticed that with Maybelline foundations, I need to rotate them according to my skin at the time. If I use the same one for too long it stops looking as good so I switch it up. I use the mousse, 24 hr, liquid satin, fit me and BB . I don't mind as they are not expensive so I can have them all to hand at any given time.
I use liquid if my face feels dry and mousse or fit me if it's oily.

I've tried lots of high end products and always end up back with Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Foundation.

I wouldn't touch anything from Tropic. It's another awful pyramid scheme.

The bare minerals bb cream is very nice.

MrsSchadenfreude · 22/02/2019 16:55

Nyx BB cream is really good at making your skin look fresher and less tired looking.

Burlea · 22/02/2019 16:56

I'm fair skinned with blonde hair and use bourjoise healthy mix.

OP, I tried the Garnier BB cream (lightest shade) and I love it. I'm using bareMinerals just for concealing at the moment (chin, nose, any spots). I'm super impressed at how long it lasts - I don't look like an old hag at the end of the day! Very much a fan. Skin less dry too. From what I've read, the Garnier BB cream is a bit thicker than some others and actually that suits me just fine! More of a cross between a BB cream and a foundation. I've been using a super light dusting of bareMinerals foundation to take away a bit of the shine. Brilliant stuff.

I find now as well that powder foundation makes me look old. Liquid and cream to powder ones are much better on me now, and the mousse formulas too. I like Maybelline, Bourjois and Avon

LellyM · 25/02/2019 16:25

I prefer a very light coverage so I use a tinted moisturiser. It gives very sheer finish but takes bronzer very well.

My preference is for Susan Molyneux Perfecting Tint (for the TM) and avon brozing pearls for the colour.

No7 Airbrush away is what I have been using for the last few months. You can be colour matched for it before buying it.
I don't like a heavy foundation, nor do I like matt or powdery products as I age but needed something to cover a bit of redness and uneven skin tone, oh and I didn't want it to sit in my (40 year old Wink) mouth lines and eye creases. So I wasn't asking much really haha
I love this and wear it for everyday for work and can build it up if I want something more for a night out. It won't be for everyone but suits me.
Go visit boots and even request a sample to try at home.

I am currently very happy with MiEssence foundation. It is light coverage, but works well for my skin (44, becoming dryer with age and lack of sleep due to a 3-yr-old!)
