Look rubbish on anyone who isn't 6ft ?

Im trying to stay modern ( god I sound like my mum) and ordered a few but they look hideously droopy. I'm 5' 5" size 12, a rectangle 🙁, and like glamorous but classic clothes. Age 46.

Should I stick to my knee length dresses ? ( if I can find any, I'm not keen on Bodens offerings this season)

Anyone get on with midi dresses? What do you wear on your feet?!

A colleague of mine wore them all of time and looked great , she is short but very slim with narrow hips. She wore them with sandals in the summer.

They look rubbish on me though , I'm short and pear shaped.

I'm with you Floisme. Most midi skirts are too long on me as I'm 5"1 and they often reach the top of my ankle. However I find this look works particularly with summer skirts with a pair of bright coloured sandals.

I don't look right in them either. I have a friend who swears they suit everyone and doesn't believe me when I tell her they don't. She looks OK in them but I think it's a lot to do with which shoes/boots you wear them with.

I hated that length in the 80s as a teen as well.

I think the problem if you're short is they're too long, and don't end at the part of the leg they're designed to end at.

It regularly pisses me off that most shops acknowledge that people are different sizes, but totally overlook they are different heights too. I no, I'm not impressed with a tiny one rail "petite" section featuring a couple of the dullest designs.

Midi length is my favourite fashion trend in a looooong time. I’m tall and it really suits me. I’ve waited (not so) patiently through the hell of jeggings and bodycon and peplums for this glorious midi era. May it never end.
Well, at least not for another couple of years.

I look like a proper old fashioned nana in midi length skirts and dresses. Am 5’2
Very frustrating.

I will look at espirit thanks @SoupDragon . Do they come up small?
I'm definitely in the frumpsville camp for midis. Same with tea dresses - very Vera. Maybe it's height, style and proportions looking at the previous posts. I'm busty and thick waisted so verge on the matronly at the best of times. In my head I'm much taller and narrower Confused

I think that it’s the current style of faux prairie girl looks dreadful on me. The mid-calf length is far too long and looks weird on me, and the baggy voluminous sleeves and waists, and high necks are so unflattering. I tried this on and looked like such a frump www.marksandspencer.com/animal-print-long-sleeve-tea-midi-dress/p/p60227895?image=SD_01_T42_8153_B4_X_EC_90&color=REDMIX&prevPage=plp

Love them, skirts and dresses, but I can only wear them bare-legged, with tights they look rubbish on me. I wear them with Stan Smiths, black or white, or Nikes. Summer only!

I’m 5ft 6 and a size 10, small bust and waist, but hippy, and they work well with my figure.

I don’t like the shapeless boho style dresses, and with skirts I always wear a fitted t-shirt tucked in. The midi-skirt/chunky knit thing is a look that works well on Instagram, but I don’t see people wearing it in real life - if you need the chunky knit, you need tights, not bare legs and ankle boots. I’m in Scotland, so maybe it works in less frozen places!
