I need a style overhaul!

I’m stuck in a bit of a style rut and desperately need some inspiration for spring and summer.

I’m 33 and feel a bit ‘in between’: too old for a lot of the more trendy stuff at ASOS/Topshop etc but still want to nod to key trends. I really like the way Sharon Horgan’s character dresses on Catastrophe but I think I’d feel a bit overdone if I dressed like that myself - I definitely prefer jeans/trousers over skirts and dresses. In fact, I look shit in most skirts.

I’m 5’11”, size 10 and have a good figure but small boobs, a very narrow waist and comparatively wide hips means I don’t suit a lot of the boxy styles that look chic on other women. Equally, I can’t stand those 50s style dresses that seem to get recommended on here a lot.

So, any suggestions, either for shops or websites where I could garner inspiration?

New look is where ive been going ,although topshop & miss selfridge are my faves, im 39 so your not too old for topshop.
If u go online at new look they have so much ,true to size. I only wear dresses , i think u would look amazing in a skater dress by the sound of your figure.

Thanks for the recommendations. I do suit skater dresses but I don't feel like 'me' wearing them. In my head I want to wear tailored trousers and a really well cut shirt or top - a bit Victoria Beckhamish - but I don't know where to go for good quality clothes in that style that suit me!

Me & Em, Sezanne, And Other Stories, Zara, Jigsaw to name a few. I also loathe those 50s style dresses!

Echoing a PP, and I too detest the 50’s look:

Me and Em
Essential Antwerp
Sandro
Zara
The Outnet
The Dressing Room (also an online store)
Massimo Duti (Italian inspired basics)
Other Stories

Happy shopping.

You are tall and slim and still very young. Wear what you like. What is your budget and style like?

To add to the list above of grown up clothing that's stylish:
Arket
Uniqlo
Finery

oooh yes I love Sharon Catastrophe style and am currently drooling over VB on YT - you have great taste. I know what you mean though, it's hard to know where to start.
How about a distressed biker jacket over a midi dress - not flouncy - with some cowboy styke boots - maybe snakeskin or white?
Then maybe some high waisted tailored trousers peg leg style with a fitted body style shirt. I find the problem with shirts is so much fabric at the waist which adds bulk - a lot of VBs tsilored shirts are actually bodies which is clever.
Killer blazer with distressed high waisted jeans - girlfriend style.
Camis.
All worn with a distressed cross body bag - maybe old school MJ.

Where to get it all is the problem - please come back if you find anything gorgeous. I can work it all out in my head but then finding it is another issue! All Saints? Zara? Mango?

Do you live near a John Lewis? Highly recommend their free personal shopping service. I'm a similar age as you and recently used it. Other stores may offer it too.

Thanks for the advice. I've heard good things about Arket so I'll check it out. I've never heard of and Me and Em though, so will have to see if I can find a store (I'm in London so there must be one somewhere!).

I love the idea of peg trousers but finding a pair that's narrow enough on the waist and fits my hips is tricky. I'll have a look in some of the places recommended and let you know if I have any luck!

Budget isn't massive as I'm saving for my wedding at the moment but could probably spend £3-400 on new stuff.
