Is a Dyson Airwrap worth the splurge?

I have very thick shoulder length hair, it looks lovely and swishy with a proper blow dry, but it's so thick it just takes ages, section by section and I don't have the time or energy most days.

I was thinking about the air wrap, on one hand it's eye wateringly expensive but on the other hand nice hair is such a confidence boost.

My birthday is coming up which is why I'm even considering it!

Does anyone have one?
Hopeful bump!

I would say yes. I don’t use everyday, but have used to blow dry straight my shoulder length reasonably thick slightly wavy hair, and also to give it a wave or loose curl. Easy to use and the style holds well. I’d recommend!

There was a lenghty thread on this - in either AIBU or Chat, can't remember - so you could seek that out. Opinions seemed to be mixed. Some thought it was the best thing since sliced bread, others that it was decidedly 'meh'. So I guess the only real way to know if it's going to work for you is to use it and try it, several times. Which sort of means you have to buy it and part with £400 quid. Seems like a risk to me, though some shops have generous returns policies.

Ah thanks for that, I did a search before posting but didn't find much so maybe it was in Chat.

I think if there were lots of posters raving about it I'd be more inclined to give it a punt!

I was going to get it but got my hair cut shorter to a longish bob. My hair is frizzy and curly and reviews weren't great for my hair type. I got the Revlon brush everyone is raving about. I love it though use it for straightening.

QVC sometimes have them in stock, you can return within 30 days if f you don’t get on with it, no questions asked. I have tried make up before and returned with no problems.

I bought one directly from Dyson. I’m a huge fan of the original Dyson hair dryer, but the Airwrap just made my hair really frizzy, no matter what I did with it (I tried it 3 or 4 times to be sure). I think if you have very sleek hair anyway, it might be great for you.

Anyway, Dyson have a no quibble return policy. I called and explained why I wanted to return it and they were true to their word - I think they even arranged a courier collection.

@ZaraW which Revlon brush is that?

OffWithThePixies · 22/02/2019 20:05

I’ve got thick frizzy long hair (bra strap length), and I love it. If it was stolen in a burglary, I’d replace it immediately.

Willowtreecottage · 22/02/2019 20:06

Yes! Which Revoln ? I need a new brush too!

RuggyPeg · 22/02/2019 20:12

It's the Revlon one step volumiser. It's fab! I bought it cos I just couldn't bring myself to part with £400+ for the Dyson. I have however recently had chance to use the Dyson. I really liked it and it's versatile but the curls dropped out really quickly, which seems to be a common complaint.
