Does anyone own a pair of these?

Hi, I’m looking at these trainers www.allbirds.com/ and wanted to know whether anyone has a pair, and what they think of them if they have.

I have really dodgy feet which hurt all the time and their claim of being very comfortable has piqued my interest. They are also washable.

I want to be able to wear them with shorts and casual dresses on holidays, as well as with skinny jeans.

I’m thinking the white might be the most versatile, but I’m not sure re the style (I’m oldish, but don’t want to look like I’ve given up!). I usually wear Superga, but I need something more comfortable. They’re pretty pricy, so I can only choose one pair. There’s a 30 day trial period, so I can send them back if they don’t live up to the comfort claim, so it’s more the style I’d like opinions on.

TIA Smile.

You can’t just give away items with company logos on to charity shops

Of course you can. How ridiculous.

Binglebong · 21/02/2019 19:50

Please get a referral to a podiatrist OP. They can work miracles!

And I quite like them. This is not a good thing. Anything I like is deemed hideous on here!

Stinkytoe · 21/02/2019 19:51

I’m in my 30s and I’d wear them, my footwear is always comfort first though

BikeRunSki · 21/02/2019 20:17

We are not allowed to give away company branded clothing. We have to black out the logo first, or cut it off if we are going to give them away, even if it’s a logo we no longer use.

You can’t just give away items with company logos on to charity shops. You have to either keep them or bin them.

Not true

Movingtoplanetclanger · 21/02/2019 23:13

BikeRunSki I'm confused you seem to be talking about work uniform whereas the pp was talking about branded clothing in general? I know if I give something with a brand name to a charity shop they are happy as they are more likely to sell it.

Sorry for the derail.

MargotLovedTom1 · 21/02/2019 23:14

Huh? I 've seen Converse and all sorts for sale in charity shops (logos intact).
Sorry OP , not really related to your thread!

Shockers · 21/02/2019 23:26

Sorry, DD was ill.

I think the poster who was talking about branded stuff meant that her DP had been given the trainers after they’d had a company logo applied to them.

As an ex charity shop manager, I can say that we would have accepted them though.

I’m going to order Tree and Wool and see which I like best when they arrive!

Thanks to all who commented.

Sorry if derailing. I took it to mean that you are prohibited in your contract of employment from donating items that have been branded with your employer's company logo (or husband's if it's him). That's common in retail as well, where you can buy at a steep discount but can't sell on. Happens with designer handbags a lot, and the occasional one shows up on eBay.

BikeRunSki · 22/02/2019 07:06

That was how I interpreted it, when I made my previous comment.

Lonecatwithkitten · 22/02/2019 07:11

For hurting feet a proper supportive trainer that grips your foot is the only way to go. When my arches collapsed the orthotics/ surgical biomechanics I saw said ASICS are really the only trainer that provides sufficient support particular if you are on your feet all day.
I had been wearing sketchers before, the ASICS dramatically decreased me pain and then orthotics and physio got rid of it completely.

Intothedenofvipers · 22/02/2019 09:21

Ah! I see. DH was given some at a corporate event with the new products branding on them. He isn’t allowed to sell them or give away to charity shops, company policy.
This is extra branding added to the trainer.

Obviously you can take branded trainers to a charity shop.

Apologies I didn’t make it clear, and it’s not obvious if you don’t work in that environment.

It is a waste but hardly an employee’s fault.

Shockers · 22/02/2019 09:45

I have these Lonecat, also recommended after a gaitscan. I wear them, and another pair of ASICS quite a lot, but trainers aren’t allowed at work, unless it’s a PE day. I thought the white allbirds looked less trainer-like.

I also just wanted something a little more versatile aesthetically, to wear with casual dresses on holiday, instead of Superga.

I really can’t wear ordinary shoes anymore Sad.

I really like the idea of these. Am on the look out this year for more ethically produced clothing - and I only ever wear comfy shoes. I'm looking at the tree loungers. To wear with everything! Disclaimer I'm also in my 50's and not exactly a trend setter (or follower!)

Shockers · 22/02/2019 21:55

@Applesaregreenandred, I’ll order the runners and we can compare notes!

@Shockers

Sorry to resurrect the thread but... Can we get a tree vs wool review if you did order both?

heartyrebel · 24/08/2019 11:23

My workmate loves these, hes a really trendy 32 year old. His mum also wears them . We are in NZ where they are from though.

Shockers · 24/08/2019 12:40

@GemmeFatale- I didn’t order both, but I’ve been really happy with my wool runners. They rubbed once on a very hot day because some superfluous wool bobbled and bunched into a little roll inside the heel. I picked it off and they were fine. My feet love them and I will be ordering more. I’d like to try the tree runners too, but I’ve found that the wool runners keep my feet at a good temperature, in both cold and warm conditions.

ImTheCaddy · 24/08/2019 12:58

Are they supportive? I was put off as they look like they wouldn't really give much support to my rather flat feet 😬

GemmeFatale · 24/08/2019 13:28

Thank you. I hate ordering when I can’t try first

Apileofballyhoo · 24/08/2019 13:36

Flat feet people, look into barefoot shoes. I now make a footprint like normal feet after about three years of wearing them. Don't go for the really thin soles ones though as they feel uncomfortable when doing a lot of walking on paths or tarmac.

If it's not your thing try going barefoot at home as much as possible (I wear socks as I hate bare feet).
