Do you remove facial hair? And if so, how? If I shave, will I end up looking like Captain Haddock?

I don't mean the odd coarse black hair, I tweeze those fuckers straight out.

I mean the fair downy hair on cheeks, jawline and around the mouth. I've noticed mine getting fuzzier and I'm getting a few spots where the hair growth has increased.

If I remove it, will it all grow back black? Will I end up looking like Brian Blessed with tits?

Go have have it derma-bladed off! You can buy the razors to do it at home, but they’re sharp and terrifying - I always think one slip and I’ll lose a chunk of cheek!

It’s not expensive and exfoliates at the same time. My foundation sits perfectly after I’ve had it. I have it done every 6 weeks or so.

sunshineandshowers21 · 21/02/2019 02:22

i have my entire face threaded every six weeks and although it’s ridiculously painful i definitely think it’s worth it because i find my skin looks more glowy and my make up sits better on my face.

WhoWants2Know · 21/02/2019 03:10

I just do mine with a razor. Works fine.

jaffajiffy · 21/02/2019 03:16

Shaving will mean coarser hair growing back. Laser is probably the only way that will be permanent

TeddyIsaHe · 21/02/2019 03:27

Shaving doesn’t make hair grow back coarser or thicker, that’s a myth. It just cuts the hair bluntly so it appears thicker. You could shave every day and it won’t make you grow a beard!

Happycow · 21/02/2019 08:08

Get one of those 'eyebrow shaper' things off amazon (basically a razor). Cheap and easy to do, my face cream sinks in so much better now and as PPs have said, makeup actually sits on your skin not matted into the fuzz like mine did . I do mine once a month, totally fine.

mrsjg · 21/02/2019 08:24

I have this and decided to get one of those eyebrow shapers - I got the Lillibeth ones from QVC.

They came last week and i thought they were ok, I was surprised at what came off. I struggled to use them on my eyebrows but I'll continue to use them for a while and see how I get on. I haven't had any regrowth yet so I can't tell if I'll end up stubbly. I can see them being handy for a quick tidy up on my tache Smile

I paid about £13-14 for two razors as opposed to £40 at a local salon for derma planing.

Greensleeves · 21/02/2019 14:58

I can't really afford to go and have anything done about it, it will have to be a DIY job. I am worried about regrowth, because I used to have quite nice eyebrows until I decided to pluck and shape them, I removed a lot of the finer blonde hairs around my black eyebrows and every since then it's all grown back black and I'm locked into plucking them or they look dreadful! I don't want the same to happen to my cheeks and round my mouth!

bumping with my fuzzy face

Is Veet an option?

SagelyNodding · 21/02/2019 22:16

I can't help you but I want to know too!

Rosered341 · 21/02/2019 22:17

I really wouldn’t veet my face, I think it would be harsh & irritating.
Threading, waxing, shaving & laser for the thick black ones are all things I’ve tried with varying degrees of success. Damn my genes for black hair and lots of it!

Hezz · 21/02/2019 22:44

I've got a no no. It's really good at getting rid of the peach fuzz but I have to go over the same areas about 6/7 times so it's quite time consuming.

www.google.co.uk/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/fashion/2015/may/09/best-beauty-products-facial-hair-removal-sali-hughes

Take Sali Hughes' advice and get a trimmer. Game changing for me.

Hedgehogblues · 21/02/2019 22:48

I shave mine

LazyFace · 21/02/2019 22:55

I think electrolysis might be the solution.

EntirelyAnonymised · 21/02/2019 22:57

I take biotin which has done wonders for my head hair but has also encouraged hair everywhere else Hmm. I tackle the peach fuzz with a Philips trimmer thing. One of these. I then zap all over with the Lumea, it doesn’t tackle light peach fuzz but it does get any rogue dark ones and keeps the ‘tache at bay.

donajimena · 21/02/2019 22:58

Is peach fuzz really that bad? I'm sporting a lot.

EntirelyAnonymised · 21/02/2019 23:00

don, no it isn’t bad but some people prefer to remove it.

Yorkshiremum17 · 21/02/2019 23:03

I have waxed my lip and chin for many years, and have just moved to using an epilator,. I used to have to do it nearly every week , but as I've got older I'm now nearly every 6 weeks! It has always grown back fairly fine, and I'm very fair skinned but dark haired.

nailslikeknives · 21/02/2019 23:04

I veet exactly the bits you've described.
It works well.
I use the facial sensitive one, applying it on everything that's below my cheekbones. You need to be careful to go around any blemishes or they'll be irritated. I have fine blond hair on my face, I only leave the cream on for 2 mins, the pack says 5-10. I found their moisturising cream (that comes with it) too harsh. I use my own mega gentle one. Once every 6 weeks has been enough.

I've given you all that detail because when I first needed to do something, a close friend in rl told me the same stuff!

Peeeas · 21/02/2019 23:10

www.tweezy.co.uk One of these! I got it for my upper lip and happy so far - easy upkeep and saves salon trips. They're supposed to be good for peach fuzz too, but I don't really have that issue so can't verify from experience. Only £10, so worth seeing if it works for you.

Candidsugar · 21/02/2019 23:13

I use the face wax strips on my upper lip and near my jawline on odd occasion when I notice a little downy hair. It’s very effective and cheap. Probably every couple of months or so if that. Eyebrows are threaded.

MyKitchenIsATip · 22/02/2019 15:55

I have one of these:
www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B074NQZ8SD/?tag=mumsnetforum-21

I am totally sold on it. Better than hair removal creams and waxing ime. Only 'downside' is that you probably want to be using it every 3-4 days but it takes seconds so really is no biggie.

MyKitchenIsATip · 22/02/2019 15:55

I tried a tweezy and found it to be fair too painful! But you might be less of a wuss than me ;-)

Cla9 · 22/02/2019 16:04

I just commented this on another thread but dermaplaning razors. I do mine at home and it works well.
