Hello style and beauty gurus, I'm hoping you can help me in my quest to look a bit less of a mess day to day, specifically my face and hair.

At present I don't wear make up and I just brush my hair and go with it still wet. I don't particularly want to wear full make up either, but my skin just looks a bit sad and could do with something to even it out a bit and brighten it up - is this what a tinted moisturiser or BB cream would achieve? I'm fair as well so would be nice to look like I actually have eyelashes but without looking too dramatic?

My hair is pretty unexciting, the texture would best be described as not straight. My main issue is the frizz around the front and my parting, which is particularly bad at moment because of my hair growing back after falling out when I stopped breast feeding.

Time is pretty limited in the mornings and I also have a toddler climbing over me while I'm getting ready so ideally things that are quick and don't require too much precision!

Thanks in advance :)

I have curly hair and its very easy to maintain, I wash and condition it then once I'm out of the shower I put some conditioner through (you might not need to do this with wavy hair mine needs it as its fairly curly) then I put some of this gel in www.superdrug.com/ECO-STYLER/ECO-Styler-Moroccan-Argan-Oil-Styling-Gel-473ml/p/771776?gclid=CjwKCAiAqaTjBRAdEiwAOdx9xvD4NTvLt0dsL9EZtaNyH5nnyf2FWP82a8SP2DO4qa2mDez8dvoXchoCHQYQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
I leave it to dry and its a little stiff so I scrunch it to soften the gel a little.
I can go without washing my hair for a couple of days. I never ever brush it I comb through it with my hand in the shower and that's it.

Face wise I have to leave to catch a train at 5.30 a few mornings a week, I mouisturise then have breakfast then put some foundation on (bare minerals) and a lick of mascara. I've been finding that a touch of colourful lipstick makes me feel put together...I sound like my nan she loved a bit of lipstick!!!

Washing your hair the night before would give you more time in the morning.

I always cleanse and moisturise twice a day, if my hair and face looks clean I feel good.

A bit of mascara helps to make my eyes look brighter and that's about all I can be bothered with for now.

Yes, tinted moisturiser or BB cream, and a bit of blusher. Try getting your eyelashes tinted if you can?

LMBad · 17/02/2019 11:38

I have very frizzy hair too, I get a Brazilian keratin treatment a few times a year and now my hair looks fantastic with no effort at all, just wash and go or a quick blow dry.

theharlotletter · 17/02/2019 11:56

I would go with a tinted moisturiser and a tinted lip balm and maybe get your eyelashes tinted and permed.

Deeedeeee · 17/02/2019 13:14

Buy two tinted lip/cheek thingies (the stuff that can be either that you can put on with your fingers and doesn't have to be very carefully applied... Can't think of brands...?) and keep one at home and one in your bag so if no time to put it on before you leave you can do it once out, if DC in buggy of whatever

  • A hair cut that works with your texture
  • A hair colour that suits your colouring and isn't too far from your natural shade
  • A new pair of shoes, handbag or jacket to add a pop of colour
  • Clarins coloured lip oil in the red or bright pink shade (Rimmel lip oil is a lovely budget option)
  • Bareminerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating gel cream for the glowy, you're skin but better look
  • Superfacialist vitamin c cleansing face oil. It really brightens skin and gets rid of dryness and oily patches, plus it smells of the Mediterranean.
  • Eyelash tint and curl

Dye your eyelashes. Once and done. Less dramatic than mascara, but you can curl them if you can be bothered! You need to redo it monthly but it takes less than 10 mins.

Makeup can't help much if you don't cleanse and moisturize properly. Wash your face in the morning and put on a light moisturizer and an SPF lotion. Plus, exfoliate once or twice weekly with something mild containing acids. Bonus would be a clay mask every weekend, that you let dry for at least 15mins, to help clear and shrink pores.

Then I would prefer a cc cream over a BB one (cc stands for colour correcting, which is what you're after). Darphin has a nice cc cream. Or you can get a lightweight makeup, like pixi h2o skin tint, which is weightless and gives a your-skin-but-better result. Always add blush, to bring warmth to your skin, it only takes 30sec and makes huge difference. Get a good blush brush, it is more important than the blush itself for failproof application in a hurry. In the same spirit, try a relatively sheer blush (I rate mac sheertones) so you can't go wrong ie apply too much.

Re hair I got babyliss big hair and super happy, cause I'm useless with brushes in general. A few passes with this would help with frizz. Also a good haircut will help immensely, if you're not sure your current one is flattering you atm.

I put in very little effort with my appearance but am always told that I look put together or glam. My hair is naturally wavy and I usually wash it once every 2 or 3 days, in the evening, then I spray it with salt spray and leave to dry naturally. I never brush it when it's dry and I just leave it until I wash it again. My hair is quite long so it always looks like I've curled the ends with a curling wand.

For skincare the only product I use is micellar water and occasionally a very light moisturiser. I wear concealer under my eyes, mascara, eyebrow powder, a small amount of cheek highlighter and lipstick each day. Make up takes me no longer than 5 minutes. I'm lucky to have good skin and to look young for my age. I do however have fillers in my cheeks once every 18 months or so, which I think helps with a polished, defined look on my face.

Clothes-wise, I have a very definite casual/rock chick style and wear mainly black, white or grey; usually skinny jeans with boots and a jumper in winter with a leather jacket. In summer it's usually denim shorts with a vest top or occasionally a dress. I'm 5ft 3 and a size 8.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone :)

I do need to get on top of my skincare regime again, my slackness with that definitely isn't helping.

I think I'll give tinting my eyelashes a go though (am I likely to make a mess of it if I do it myself..?) and will look at some of the suggestions for bb/cc creams/tinted moisturisers.

Things happen to my hair overnight so washing it in the morning is the only way to tame it again (it's so thin and boring you wouldn't think it was capable of such wildness, but alas it is).

This can go on cheeks, lips and eyelids and is beautiful on. I like shade Passion. Also look at her articles she has a pretty natural, fairskinned look. www.beautyandtheboutique.com/Daniel_Sandler_Watercolour_Fluid_Blusher_p/ds-blusher.htm

Love51 · 18/02/2019 07:25

I'm not artistically gifted and I've never messed up dying my eyelashes. You put vaseline around. I had mine done once in a salon to find out how they do it. Couldn't be doing with finding time for an appointment every 3-4 weeks, plus the difference in £££.

MumUnderTheMoon · 18/02/2019 08:05

What about an amazing pixie crop. They're so stylish with very little effort. Go to a professional to get your eyelashes tinted and maybe treat yourself to a facial?

Spam88 · 18/02/2019 11:31

Any suggestions for an eyelash tint? 😬
