At my wits end...how to get rid of red blemishes?

Honestly, when I get a spot, it’s usually gone within a few days but I always get a red blemish left behind and I’m not joking when I say they stay on my face for about 6-8 months. They make me look like I have spots even though I don’t 😩 they’re so hard to cover.

I cleanse and moisturise every day, twice a day. I use a nip and fab dragon’s blood Sacrilac acid pad on my face every evening but they still don’t budge.

I’ve had an unusual break out and have had about 5 spots around my chin and jaw line the past couple of weeks, the spots went ages ago but I’m now left with the usual, red blemishes.

Does anyone else get this and successfully manage to get rid of the blemishes? If so, how?

I get marks from spots that last for ages too, I have found La Roche Posay Efflacur Duo effective. It feels lovely to use and keeps my skin clear, read the reviews from Boots or Amazon.

Great! Hope it works for you, as with everything give it a few weeks to test. My 13 year old DD uses it, it seemed to bring everything to a head at first, like a clear out, but was shortlived and she definitely has clearer skin now, looks glowy too.

Yes, I second Effaclar Duo, it's totally transformed my skin. It was the same for me, brought out some spots to start off with but now my skin is practically blemish-free. I really notice a difference if I run out.

I've just looked at this but there's a choice of colours. Is it a male up or a skin treatment?

Vitamin C serum and niacinamide have helped to fade my ‘scars’ (hyper pigmentation) more quickly

I have no experience using them, but I’ve heard good things about silicon sheets/gel. I think they’re better for PIE (post inflammatory erythema) raised red scars rather than PIH (post inflammatory hyperpigmentation) flat brown marks

I mainly deal with PIH

Rosehip oil. It's magic stuff. I use it at night in place of moisturiser and my red marks now fade quickly enough that they don't really bother me.

Effaclear Duo is good for preventing spots in the first place, but unfortunately the smell makes me feel sick 🤮

i just had the exact same thing in the past month! It is something that almost never happens to me, I put it down to anxiety and messed up diet. Thing is, I am left with the red blemishes a week now and although i believe each evening i see them a little faded, next morning after I wash they look all red again..

I don't know if it will work, but I will persevere with my salicylic acid face wash, morning and night, followed by a lotion specifically targeted to prevent new break-outs, and then face oils at night (either moringa, or cacay). Also, I will polish once a week with pixi peel and polish and sneek in any brightening face mask I can find too. I am hoping to diminish them a month on, let's see..

Another fan of effaclar duo for this. No colour in it and not make up, worn before make up or at night.

Ledkr · 19/02/2019 22:17

Would anyone think this might be good for. My perioral dermatitis?

La Roche Posay Cicaplast b5 baume. Miracle product as far as I'm concerned. I used to have red marks left behind from spots for months. Now they take a week to go. It's the b5 in it, speeds up skin repair.

Once the spot has finished and is in the scabbing up or going down stage, blob a visible bit of the cream directly on to it and leave it. Don't rub it in. I do it after washing my face in the evening so there's at least a couple of hours for it to work before bed.

Honestly it's the best beauty product I've ever bought. www.boots.com/la-roche-posay-cicaplast-baume-b5-soothing-repairing-balm-40ml-10189518?cm_mmc=bmm--Google+Boots+PLAs--(GB:Whoop!)+Boots+Shopping+-+Category+-+Beauty+-+Mobile-_-(GB:Whoop!)+La+Roche+Posay&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIzJybsoDJ4AIVa7XtCh3x2gF0EAQYASABEgLHEvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
