Positive stories about Botox

After years of deliberating I’ve decided to go for Botox. I never thought I’d go for this but my frown lines are v extreme, Botox might not even work. I look tired all the time because of them, it’s all I ever hear “you look exhausted “.
I drink lots of water, wear spf, have never smoked, drink v little. I have had two pretty awful sleepers so think this has made things worse although I’ve always had frown lines, even in my twenties...
I’m still a bit apprehensive but really want to try it, I’m going to a very reputable person. I’m just nervous as very health conscious so the idea of injecting myself with a neurotoxin is freaking me out but at the same time my dc asking me why I look angry all the time is just depressing..
Just a few questions, does it feel strange, like heavy? Any bad side effects? Also how long does it last typically? We are going on holidays in mid June and anyone who has awful forehead lines will know that sunlight makes lines look a thousand times worse. So should i aim to get it done a month before. I’d actually like to get it done a lot sooner as I’m so sick of hiding my eyes behind a fringe that doesn’t suit me.

I had Botox for the first time 3 weeks ago and honestly I am so so pleased. I always had people telling me how tired I looked before, and I look so much fresher now. I didn’t get much, I stressed that I wanted to keep it really natural and she did a brilliant job.
Like you, I was very wary of the procedure but if you’ve done all your research and picked someone reputable you’ll be fine. Make sure to ask any questions when you go in.
As for side effects, I had a mild headache for a couple of days and that’s all. I noticed it taking effect after about 7 days. The lady I used said it will last for 4 - 6 months but as it was my first time probably more like 4 months that 6.
Honestly, if you’re feeling that unhappy with your appearance I would go for it, I’m so glad I did.

Thank you so much scubby, sounds really promising. Can I ask how many units you got and was it just for the elevens or more lines? I really want to avoid that Spock look where my eyebrows would go really high. I can see a lot of people are getting Botox now , I actually think it looks quite good on the majority but on some it can look a bit strained and obvious.
I really want to look less haggard and like I am constantly squinting. Did you notice a change daily or was it quite subtle? I just can’t imagine how these lines would suddenly disappear..

I have no idea how many units. I had 3 areas done, my 11s aren’t actually too much of a problem but I thought I may as well go the whole hog as I definitely needed to get my forehead and crows feet done.
I was worried about the Spock eyebrows too, I wanted mine lifted a touch as I felt they were too low and she’s done exactly as I asked. I definitely think you need to stress that you want it all to be very natural, I asked my lady to be really economic with the amounts she used as I was very worried about ending up with a frozen face. You should also be given a top up appointment 2 or 3 weeks later to make any tweaks, I have mine on Monday.

I had Botox 9 days ago. Very reputable place, paid top whack and spent a long time talking about what I did and didn't want to happen. (I hated my 11s but was happy with my crows feet and really didn't want any eyebrow droop). The doctor agreed and positively reacted to my concerns. I was happy that we were on the same page.
Arnica cream on the injection sites and loads of painkillers sorted me out in the first instance.

I had a headache for about 4 days, Spock eyebrows after 5 days that have only just gone and now they have settled into very heavy looking angry brows. I can't move my forehead AT ALL. Right now I look vaguely insane all the time. I'm assured it will relax eventually, but I get married in a week and am extremely worried that I won't be able to smile convincingly. I have to physically lift up my eyebrow in order to get eyeshadow onto my lids.

My doctor offered to 'correct' it but frankly right now I'm terrified to do anything else in case it looks worse.

I know you wanted positive stories, but I'm just saying be prepared. I'm sure in a few weeks I will look less Wednesday Addams, but I'm not sure I will go back to this practitioner again.

After further research I've discovered that the area you absolutely DON'T want injected when you are over 40 or have hooded eyes is in the triangular area just above each eyebrow. This is what contributes to brow droop.

Good luck!

I have had botox done twice now, roughly 6 months apart. I had it done on my frown lines (11s) and I am never looking back.

No more looking permanently cross and the lines are not getting worse either.

hastingsmua1 · 16/02/2019 23:09

I had Botox under the nhs for medical reasons in my masseter muscles. I found that I developed wrinkles elsewhere, but your mileage may vary as my treatment was quite niche/unique so won’t necessarily be common

Eyeneedhelp · 17/02/2019 07:24

Thanks for all the posts and good to hear the honest answers too. I really hope it gets better in time for your wedding ladyof, did your practitioner inject the area above your eyebrows?
I honestly think anything would be an improvement for me, wrinkles I can accept but these frown lines look really odd and they are caused by strong muscles which have started to pull one of my eyebrows lower.
I will discuss it with the practitioner and try for less is more at first. I really hope it works out 🤞

I've been having Botox for more than 10 years. Just for my 11s. I've used various different docs over the years. Couple of times I've had spocking, which looks ridiculous but it's been easily corrected and I now tell the practitioner that it happens and subtly 'tell' them what to do 😁 I also had one of the most well known docs be a bit heavy handed and inject a bit too much and I felt frozen solid and trapped in my own skin for a couple of months!! 99% of the time though, it's fab. It doesn't hurt. It's a bit like plucking your eyebrows - that kind of pain level. Nothing else works like it.

Now I'm older, I do it less, otherwise I'd have a face that doesn't match up. Top half all smooth, bottom half like a melted welly!! I've never had crows feet done cos the wrinkles will simply migrate to elsewhere and you'll be chasing them round your face with a needle! Mine don't bother me so much though.

Chesneyhawkes1 · 17/02/2019 23:25

I had it for the first time 11 days ago. 3 areas done. It's amazing stuff! I'm really really pleased with the results.

I didn't get any after effects at all.

Nottheboreworms · 18/02/2019 09:14

I'm seriously considering botox. I hate how I look.

My major issue is lines around my eyes underneath and at the sides. I look like over rubbed my eyes so much over the years that I've wrinkled them. I've also got a deep line on one side of my face running from the side of my nose to just below my mouth. I've no idea where to start though.

Chesneyhawkes1 · 18/02/2019 16:16

I think the deep line would need filler. Like Juvéderm or something. Reputable places will do a free consultation for you anyway.

I had one before I decided to go for it.

Wavedancer · 18/02/2019 17:03

I just had my first botox today. I was in a similar position to you; I thought this was something I would never do but my attitude has changed over time. I know plenty of people who whiten their teeth and to me, this is in the same league (except it's over in 5 mins and virtually painless). I was also driven by my frown line. My husband is always referring to my 'resting bitch face' and I know it's down to this trough. The guy who did the botox warned me that I would probably only see 50% improvement as the line is so deep now but to be honest, 50% is better than 0%, so I'll take it!

I've been told results won't be visible for 10 days so I shall report back then! In the meantime, I say go for it. I don't regret taking the plunge!

Nottheboreworms · 18/02/2019 17:15

How can you be sure you're going somewhere really reputable? I don't know anyone that has had it done so hard to get personal recommendations.

Chesneyhawkes1 · 18/02/2019 17:47

You can ask on here. Also look at their photos and reviews. Also I personally didn't want to go to a beautician. I went to a lady who was a nurse for many years in the NHS, then at a private cosmetic surgery place and has now set up on her own.

It's an unregulated industry so you need to do your research

Nottheboreworms · 18/02/2019 18:30

There's a place just up the road from me that's part of a very thought of cosmetic dental surgery. Might start by looking at that place...

Chesneyhawkes1 · 18/02/2019 18:33

Sounds like a good start. My friend uses a cosmetic dentist type person. Someone who is used to giving injections and where the muscles in the face are.

Betty777 · 18/02/2019 23:24

i love it - I've had it 5 times, and 2 times i've had slight issues (funny eyebrow wrinkles on one side) but when that has happened they've been able to correct it - which takes a couple of days to kick in.

Totally makes me look less grumpy. And whenever you can't make the wrinkles, they can't get any deeper, so even when they come back they will still be a bit less deep overall.

i wouldn't wait until June, better to do it now and it's it's been successful but worn off, you could get it done again, but don't wait if you want it.

lottielady · 18/02/2019 23:26

It’s the absolute shizz.
