Super Easy Makeup

Hello, looking for some product recommendations and tips for makeup that is super quick and easy to apply for general day-to-day wear. I have poor motor skills as I'm on the autistic spectrum so I find that it takes me much longer to apply makeup than other people. DD is now 8 months old and I sometimes get a bit of time to apply makeup when she has her morning nap now and I always feel better if I do because I have bad skin (mild acne, and sometimes eczema in the winter, and I have acne scarring), so I feel like if I tone down the redness a bit and put on some eye makeup it helps take the focus off my bad skin so I feel better and more confident in myself too.

I do a very basic make up.
In no way an expert but might give you a starting basis.
My basic look is due to necessity have to get up early for commute and generally do make up in 5-10 minutes.

Start with moisturiser -I use Clinique let it sink in while I do my hair.
Then I use Garnier B and B cream around my nose to cover redness
Then foundation again Clinique - Even better -good for oily skin and not too scary as you can build it up if you feel you need more cover.
I line my upper eye lids
Then apply just one colour of eyeshadow - no time for smokey eyes at 7am- I use a grey/plum to define my blue eyes.
One coat of mascara -I find one coat applied well is better than several coats.
Then a dot of highlighter cream - mine is from Boots No 7 on cheekbones followed by the Clinique chubby blush- much easier than a powder or heaven forbid contouring.

Finish with a lip gloss which is easily applied with fingers and easy to touch up - not too scary if bright lipsticks are not your thing.

Hope that helps and remember no one looks at your make up with as much scrutiny as you do when applying. You will look great.

I have a No.7 blusher stick but find it difficult to apply, it seems to either come on hardly at all or if you press a bit harder, be bright pink and then it doesn't seem to blend well either Confused. I bought it as I thought it would be quicker/easier than powder (what I've always used in the past) but hasn't been for me so far? Also how do you know what colour blusher suits you? I just go for random pinky colours but they seem a bit full-on sometimes.

Don't use the blusher stick directly on your face. It will definitely be very full on. Put it on with your finger instead and it will blend better

Oh, that makes sense, I didn't know you weren't meant to put it directly onto your face Blush. Will try that!

Just rub your index finger on it and rub it onto your cheek. The heat from your finger will help it to blend too :)

Tried that today and worked much better/easier! Thanks. I did check though and the stick actually says on it to apply directly to your face Confused but your way worked much better.

I use eyeshadow crayons when I need to rush. You can apply them lightly if you want subtle or more heavy if you prefer. I blend it with my fingers.
I also have a tinted moisturizer which is easier than foundation and powder.

Do you have a recommendation for a good brand of eyeshadow crayons? Have used Barry M ones occasionally in the past but can't remember if they were any good or not Confused. I have a No.7 tinted moisturiser that I'm still yet to even try that I bought months ago and haven't even opened, eek. Need to give it a go. Have never worn tinted moisturiser before. I definitely need powder as well though cos my skin gets really greasy otherwise. I have a good powder from No.7.

Mine are GOSH from superdrug. I have a grey and a green. They go on really smoothly.

What colour eyes do you have? I have light brown eyes. Wondering what would be good everyday colours.

I have medium brown eyes. I tend to wear brown neutrals, metallic green, grey sometimes and light purple. I've tried recently to experiment a bit more with colours, so trying the orangey and pink shades in my make up palette and practising blending. I tend to do mine a bit more subtly than the you tube videos though because I'm not as good at blending and don't have professional brushes. The good thing with the crayons though is that you don't have to layer different shades and they blend well with just your fingers.
If you do try the GOSH ones, mine are called forever and the grey one is labelled blue but isn't, it's definitely more of a grey.

The easiest base is powder foundation. Swish it on with a big fat fluffy brush, job done. Takes literally 10 seconds and requires no skill. L'oreal True Match is pretty good coverage.

Have a look at Wendy Rowe on YouTube. She does a couple of videos about a really simple make up which are easy to follow.
