Anyone had laser on red veins on face- advice please!

Earlier this week I had laser with Dr Richard Barlow to remove red veins on my face, mostly my cheeks. I can't recall the name of the laser he used, but it was the one which burns the vein.

After the treatment he showed me in the mirror - the red veins were all gone! It was incredible.

However within 48 hours I can see them again (new ones maybe?) It's not just bruising or redness, I can see actual red veins.

I called the Dr office but his PA/Assistant just told me to hang tight and be patient. I'm nervous because the day after the treatment I did a yoga class, and wonder if I didn't make it worse by doing this?? I assumed that because I had seen the veins gone, it's bad they've reappeared - and they won't just be going away in a couple of weeks on their own.

Am feeling very anxious about it - anyone with any experience here?

There’s normally about 4 weeks between appointments for Ipl ( intense pulsed light) as the damaged vessels are reabsorbed. So wait 4 weeks and then decide what to do. Most individuals need about 3 sessions for it to work. Ipl doesnt always work in some veins so then you will need laser treatment. Even then that doesn’t always produce a perfect result.
I would suspect you have probably had Ipl as that is most doctors first call. I have had 3 sessions of Ipl which has reduced the diffuse redness and then am booked in for laser for the more resistant veins.

I had one session which cleared the veins beautifully. I can't even see the spot now where they were. Spider vein I think.

Thanks Teta - I don't think it was lpl. I could smell burning, each hit was a very intense sharp pain. I think it was the laser which burns the vein to kill the blood flow. Ah actually I've just checked and it was "Diolite"

We never discussed multiple treatments, he said they would disappear from one treatment and maybe in ten years or so I might get more... hence the reason I'm concerned.

Ipl and laser both feel like a burning pain and very similar. A bit like a elastic band flicking very fast on your skin and both can cause a burning smell. As far as I know my dermatologist has not guaranteed perfect results with any laser on my skin. I would suspect it would be the same with everyone. Wait a month because I think the downtime between laser treatments is longer than ipl and then make a appointment. Or make the appointment now for a month hence.

The burning smell is the tiny tiny hairs being burned off with each Zap. You may need several treatments to see a improvement. Good Luck
